yep but none more crooked than labour councillors etc from central scotland. they are all like a mini mafia on the take thinking they are above the law.

be great to see douglas alexanders condescending smugness given a bit of a beating.

Is this the one that will result in Gordon Brown having to resign if Labour loses?

Lets hope hey?

seems as if labour has lost by 354 votes but they are wanting a recount as there another candidate with the same surname so looks like they are trying to hang on woth their fingertips.

and well I doubt brown will give up power if they lose but I wouldn't rule out some twitchy back benchers getting somebody to stand against him paving the way for the likes of milliband and harmon.

What tonight shows me is that this is further proof that a Labour party led by Gordon Brown would be wiped off the political map in a general election. I seriously hope that GB has NOT the humility to see what people are screaming at him, and stubbornly refuses to go. The people will then be more sure to dispose of 'hard labor' in 2010. We will without a doubt see the govt get totally shafted at the next election. That will be just dandy.
I can wait for that day, what's 18 months between friends? It can't get a whole lot worse ... can it? Disabled people being forced back to work to earn poverty level pay? Taxes? Harsher sentences for fraudsters than murderers? The highest fuel duty in Europe? Pay rises of 30% of 'real' inflation? Taxes? A facile war that cannot be won? Immigration out of control? Taxes? Nah, it can't get a lot worse. I can wait ...

Surely this must be the end for Gordon Clown? Is this the biggest swing ever?

Full story:-

The SNP has pulled off a stunning by-election victory by winning Glasgow East, one of Labour's safest seats.
The Nationalists overturned a Labour majority of 13,507 to win by only 365 votes with a swing of 22.54%.
The SNP polled 11,277 votes in the contest, while the Tories came third with 1,639 and the Lib Dems, with 915 votes, came fourth.
SNP candidate John Mason said the victory was "off the Richter Scale", while Labour expressed disappointment.
Voter turnout was 42.25%, down on the 48% figure at the last election, with 26,219 votes cast.
The result was declared at Glasgow's Tollcross Leisure Centre in the early hours of Friday, after a re-count was requested by Labour, which won 10,912 votes in the contest.

im working class and i have necer felt so let down by a government. they are more anti working class than the tories have been, they have just feathered their nests and turned their collective backs on the people that need the most help. taxing the poor to feed the rich. read in the paper that 32 labour mps have taken paid directorships of companies in the last 6 months, im alright jack mentality.

As a life-long Labour voter (until recently) I feel exactly the same. Never has a govt that promised so much to so many, given to so few. The class gap is bigger now than it ever was. Big business rakes it in at the expense of the working class under New Labour. Give me the socialist version over this abomination anyday. The death of John Smith was the worst thing that could have happened to the Labour party.
