I got £15 for filling out the sheet in starbucks, (I exaggerated a lil') for saying how the cleanliness of the store was awful, and there was no description of syrups until you were about to order...

was when vista just came out. my printer wasnt compat. but i wanted xp but they wouldnt let you order it with xp. but on the Us site you could. rang up complained. (i'd just brought a printer for 49.99 anyway) and they said they'd reimburse me for the printer i bought instead of me sending it back. also sent me one of their printers. then i realised they'd sent me a 4cell battery instead of the 6 i ordered. complained about that. they sent me a 9 and told me to keep the 4. lol

had a free weekend at a hotel once with evening meal for 8 people...all because i filled out a comments form-a door had been left open and even tho we asked them to close it no-one did..(the manager just apologised and gave us hot drinks)..our whole party had been cold eating our evening meal the night before...so they invited us for a freebie!

oh also £100 from lloydstsb as they made a couple of mistakes on my account!

I'm rubbish at complaining.
Generally I have low expectations of service these days so am usually pretty laid back, if something is shocking service I might wirte to head office or moan about the company online if I can be bothered but usually can't.
I am more likely to write to a company and praise them for good service than complain about bad service as I'm more surprised and feel like someone deserves some praise. Complaining usually never gets passed down to the person involved instead it gets 'passed on for training purposes' ir more likely put in the bin.

John Lewis refunded me £15 because my little boys birthday present came late :)

Legitmately?
I deliberately waited over 30days for a mouse to be delivered, dsr breached, they refunded me fully and sent me the mouse
I wouldn't say that's amazing but nice.

they forgot our food order in centre parcs somewhere...we asked and she gave it for free....felt bad though as was a genuine mistake but kids were shattered by then!

I don't complain very often, but find that a handwritten letter often gets further than an email these days as it shows more commitment to the complaint. Anyone else found the same?

I was in tesco once when a member of staff pushed one of the big stock trolleys into me & there was a piece of metal sticking out that ripped my arm & (tatty old) tee shirt. I went to the CS desk & told them about it. I wasn't bothered myself but the piece of metal needed sorting out in case a child got caught on it.
Anyway they didn't seem to give a toss & I was just told to buy a new shirt & bring the receipt in. So I went & bought a £50 Ben Sherman shirt & when I took the receipt in they paid up without even questioning it!

A partial refund for a ps3 when I complained about removal of other OS.
Free batteries when ones I owned developed a fault (energizer).
A phone call to the local council got them to clean up the bike lanes into Belfast (removal of rocks, glass, ect and removing illegally parked cars). (Might need to do that again, they need another round of maintenance)

Best one had to be we bought a little clear silicone mat for the dashboard (cost £1 from Asda). After a couple of weeks in the summer, noticed the surface of the mat was a bit uneven. When i peeled it off, the the surface of the dash was all wrinkled. Took photos of the damage to Asda who passed them on to the company who had obviously had other complaints. We got over £400 for the damage (about 5cm x 8cm!!!)

Got to disagree on the John Lewis having good customer service, they put through an online order 99 times on their system(!), the bank as a result cancelled the card, JL were rubbish, didn't even apologise at first . my card was barred until the new one arrived and this was all in week before Christmas a couple of years ago.
I was left without my JL order, Sainsburys Internet food order, Christmas presents etc and JL weren't interested.
No help or compensation from JL.

Had a few good compensation things but Ive also had a load of things by just emailing and saying how good a product or service is, pays to be nice :)

Got £260 compensation from currys for being sold a £500 samsung HD telly that wasn't HD, took a lot of emails and a few recorded letters, they told me they would collect the TV (almost 2 years old) but never came for it so sold it on to a friend for £150 :) Also complained to samsung and they sent me a samsung top of the range home cinema system as way of compensation!

complained to Tango once (for a laugh) and got a cheque for £1 sent back as that was the cost of the bottle of drink I had bought.

Unfortunately I couldn't use the cheque because the complaint was sent under the name Mike Hunt haha!

£60 from boots when the website screwed my card up which then wouldnt work in tesco.
£15 from duracell when a battery exploded in my keyboard.
about £60 (£15 x 4 times) from mcdonals for missing things off drive through orders.
Petrol money back from argos when they sold me a faulty item.
£5 from birdseye when there was no fish in my fish pie.
£6 from kellogs when my crunchy nut cornflakes tasted like crap.
£5ish from kenco when coffee wouldnt disolve.
Got something from heinz cant remember how much when my salad cream smelled and tasted like sewerage (that was horrible).
About £6 from allinsons bread people when the buns i bought smelled funny, turns out they had chalk mold in them ughhhh.

I have no problems with complaining and will do so if I feel I need to. You pay your money and should recieve what you paid for.
