Anybody used auto aid breakdown cover, need advice please

Hi all,
The car breakdown cover is due shortly and I am considering signing up with auto aid breakdown recovery. They have generally very good reviews on the internet but some reviews are really horrible.

I wonder if somebody on hukd would like to share their experience with auto aid.

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments ...

Great value especially if you have a spouse as it covers you both in any vehicle. Did a call out with them this year and needed a recovery, paid on card and received refund the next week.

I suppose that as they use independent recovery agents there is a risk that you will get an unhelpful recovery but that can be said for many of the other companies too. They let you arrange your own recovery if you want to which is handy if things go wrong localy you can use someone you know and trust.

brilliant, thanks for your response guys.

I miss the feature of giving rep to the helpful comments which hukd once had, was a nice virtual gesture to thank the good people on this site :)

Used them this year for the first time and had to call them for a breakdown. Paid something like £38 and a local recovery come out and repair the fault. All done in 30 minutes, £55 later.

Paid with card and received cheque back in the post (even after the alloted time frame - send it in as soon as you get it!).

Fantastic service, though it does depend on who responds I suppose. Even Green Flag used local agents in the past when I had them.

I'd been stung from the AA where they took a years renewal from me that I didn't want, then stung me for £20 'admin fee' when I cancelled it.

Don't hesitate - this is better and less messy than trying to get the price down through cashbacks, etc.

bear in mind you have to have funds or enough credit to pay the bill for some that's not possible

start rescue is good value if you cant pay upfront , there is a 15% off code available too
