Demand intolerance against someone because we want tolerance?

It's not exactly a secret that the southern American states are still filled with many racists and the KKK still has a large following. There's the bible states where homosexuality isn't tolerated either. Racism and the like doesn't just disappear overnight just because a law is passed. That link was from the first page of one quick Google, I'm sure there's plenty more.
The last president who was a known KKK member was in the late 1940's, quite possibly one in power now.

I don't agree with the woman Dave linked in the OP and I don't believe Britain is anywhere near as racist as the USA.

However, what has Donald Trump done to deserve a State visit? Nothing.
He's done a lot to prevent one from happening and should never have been offered one in the first place by our strong and stable PM.

He's the democratically elected leader of our closest ally? He's achieved more than corbyn ever could winning an election.
Of course the potus should have a state visit and if there's things we don't agree on we should say so, not just block off visits? Or does him visiting make us complicit with his views?

Our closest ally tried to weaken the Paris Climate Agreement which significantly impacts the welfare of the next generation (if you care about such things) whilst also leaking information about the Manchester bomber to the press whilst the investigation was still ongoing.

If they're our ally, I'd hate to think what an enemy would do.

Attack us from within.

That being said climate agreements aren't worth the paper they are written on, what needs to happen js encouragement in r&d into cleaner new technologies, not really something that will happen under a nanny state, or by a piece of paper, it will happen when the economics make sense.
Like it or not they are our closest ally and have been for decades and no petition or crying is going to change that.
