What were the queues like? Never been in August before & thinking of taking my son tomorrow. He's not big enough for the big rides even though he would go on them! So what sort of queue time could we expect on the rapids, log flume, corkscrew these would be the main ones.

We have both have an annual pass so won't cost us to get in so might be worth paying for fast track I suppose

sucks doesnt it!

It could be worth going as you can easily find buy one get one free ticket offers for Alton Towers and the extra for the Fast Track could offset the full price for 2 full tickets...just a wee thought :)

Get there at opening time & you can get on the big rides before all the coaches turn up.

Also, look at a map of the place on their website & work out beforehand which rides you want to get on at the start (before the queues develop), then work out how to get straight there so you spend less time running round like headless chickens. If you're heading to the top end of the park then ignore the cable-car thingy - it's much quicker to walk/run when the park first opens.

Just having a look at the Alton Towers website now, is it possible to buy just the fasttrack on it's own when I get there? On the website you can only book a fast track with an entrance ticket price :?

umm, u MUST go to alton, best place in the world

Major rides which I dont think you will be able to take the youngster on

Air, Nemesis, Rita, Oblivion and a couple of others.

I dont think water rides will be OTT because of the weather, and I expect the park to be quiet anyway cos of the poor summer we have had.

Just take your time, dont just go there for the rides.

Some more detail me thinks is ness

Buy the fast track adventurer £4

Gives you charlie and the choc factory, runaway mine train and corky!

The others will be useless for you.

I would go into park, and basically head left, you will see the new mutiny bay area, go through this, but ignore the rides. You will end up next to the Flume ques, que for these first.

Once you have done the flume, go to runaway rapids, then head through gloomy wood to the duel ride. Once you have done this, head to forbiden valley, have a look at the big boys down there, then have a go on the pirate ship!

Come back up then to UG land and use your fast pass!

Oh, also, go back to the mutiny bay area later, some good flat rides!

Thats the day planneD!

No he's not big enough for Air, Nemesis, Rita & the other rides that are 1.4, he's just over 1.2 - we have been several times before so know our way around. He has been on Enterprise with his dad but didn't like that one, neither did hubby either! I didn't even try as I knew I wouldn't like it. I don't mind Rita & Oblivion but can't really leave an 8 yr old on his own while I go on the big ones & anyway it's his day out :)

ull have a fab day, over the last couple of years, alton has focused on family entertainment rather than the big rides. I will honestly say, its may favourite place in the whole world, im 24 lol!

We went when my wife was in early pregnancy, even tho we couldnt go on the coasters, it was a fab day.

Now that's a plan! Everything sounds good apart from the pirate ship, I hate swinging things that go backwards & forwards!

Is it possible to buy the fasttrack on it's own when we get there? We both have an annual pass so won't be paying entrance fees.

Thanks for all the info

Also, you have an annual pass, and you are not staying at the hotel?! ?!? !?

You get 20% off, and the hotel makes the day super special!

I recommend it. Flambos feast is one for the little one, he will enjoy it so much!

Go for it!

Just done that with Thorpe Park a few weeks ago, then xferd to a different hotel & went into London for 2 days.

It's only an hour from here to Alton Towers so can't really justify the expense

I live about 4 miles away from Alton Towers
Havent been for about 2 years.
Fast track things last time i went you had to put your entrance ticket in.
Also they had a single riders queue which filled in the empty seats.
Gets you on the rides really quickly if you aint bothered about who you sit next to!

I went to AT in just before th kids broke up. I'm bored of the rides, becuse I've been to america where the rides are amazing, AT seems like a local fairground now.

When i went the longest que was 1 hour and that was for rita (lasts about 15 seconds)
