If you can get to Palma, try the little electric train (more like a shed on wheels) that runs from beside the main station up thru the mountains to Soller in the north of the island, then take the tram down to Puerto del Soller. Brilliant ride.

Is it Sol Calas in Callas de Mallorca you are talking about? (which used to be the Sol Balmoral/Chihuaha/Mastines - ignore spelling!)? If it is then I was at the Sol Balmoral 2 years ago. We thought it was good value for what you pay for. It was an all inclusive so it was great as the holiday was cheap as chips. Think it has all amalgamated into the one resort now though but I'm sure its the one you're talking about.

Hotel was fine, we were in the main building as they had apartments too so don't know what they were like - food was good too - sirloin steak amonst other stuff for lunch and dinner. Good variety and loads of fresh fruit and salads too. Drinks were just the usual though you were provided with a card that had everyone's photo on it and you needed it each time you went to the bar. Kids got juice and ice cream free all day too.

Callas de mallorca is a quiet resort which suited us as the kids were small so didn't need much entertaining. The hotels were just along from the main bit which isn't huge but there's enough bars/shops/play areas etc to keep you amused.

We hired a car online before we went rather than take the transfers so that we could drive around Majorca as there's loads of places to visit - even other holiday resorts so you can see what they're like too. If
