Anyone bought off tech-center?

I don't like the look of that site - looks like an out-of-the-box website.

Wise up mate;
PS3 Slim £97
Wii £72
PSP £40

Seems some items are over priced yet the other more desireables are way too cheap in order to encourage people to get to checkout quickly before they are gone, and before they have time to think hey this is dodgy.

On their contact us this address shows:
[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif][B][B][SIZE=2]145-147 St Johns Street
London EC1V 4PY
United Kingdom

Im sure thats the same forwarding address as musthave100 used?

thats why im asking, i cant find a single review for them anywhere good or bad!

They look real dodgy mate - I'd stay away. Check out their payments section - they don't take Visa/Paypal, but prefer Wireless Transfer, Moneygram etc, which offer no buyer protection whatsoever!

http://www.tech-center.eu.l.shopfront.net.tc ... hardly a very friendly domain name :-/
#7
http://www.smartdots.com/

Thats the host! Free domain.

This site is definitly a scam, I looked up the IP address of this site and its from a company called THEPLANET.COM INTERNET SERVICES, so yes its one of these out of the box sites, they also say they have cheap prices because of being a FREE TAX (OFFSHORE COPORATION) sounds dodgy to me, so I advise anyone not to buy from this site.
#9
If it looks to good to be true.... No one could sell a ps3 slim for £97 as the trade rate (which retailers buy at) is still more than that.

This from UKASH

Fraud Warning: Tech Center EU

DO NOT use Ukash at this site

DO NOT use Ukash at Tech Center EU (URL http://www.tech-center.eu.l.shopindex.net.tc). They are not a Ukash merchant and they will take your voucher without supplying the items that you order. This is a fraud and you will lose your money.

Ironically UKASH also says...

20/01/2010
Sophisticated scams fuel card fraud surge

Online fraud remains the biggest threat, affecting a third of all victims, but the research suggested that while almost a fifth of cardholders admitted to being more concerned about card fraud than they were last year, many still fail to take adequate precautions to protect themselves from falling prey to fraudsters.

One way to protect yourself from cybercrime and avoid identity theft online is to use cash online through Ukash. As Ukash does not require users to provide their bank details, consumers are able to shop, pay or play online safely, securely and anonymously.

Should I report them to the police? :-S

Then you are not going to be getting your money back I am afraid. The reason I asked before is that I don't have a clue who UKash are.
Do not ever give your money to complete strangers without some form of protection, and without doing some research. No doubt this website will be registered overseas, with a dummy owner, therefore you will have little luck with the police, although you could still report it.
#20
I will report anway... Possibly they are registered abroad, but surely I am not the only victim... If nobody reports they will never be caught...

Thank you very much

First post and excellent, thanks dude!

Well in all honesty I too gave them money before finding this site. But if I'm honest again I knew at the time the site was too good to be true and had fraud written all over it. I shop on line quite a bit so decided this was worth the risk and had already accepted this is money I will probably lose. I've always kind of made allowances for things like this in life so after the con it was really more about spreading the word which is when I found this forum.

If I do have one guilt trip it was using my mums address for the delivery as I thought the site was too dodgy to give them my actual home address. Giving money to a con artist you don't know is one thing but them also having your address is even more disturbing.

It has always been my belief that the same people that sell you anti-virus software are the same ones who create the virus you need their software to fix - easy money! In this sense I'm still suspicious about the Ukash involvement in all of this. I feel they could do a lot more than a comment on their site to spread the word about this fraud....it's almost as if they are protecting themselves more than a genuine concern for the consumer.

Not sure if anything can be done but anyone who has been conned should report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

I'm even more surprised this is the first time this site has really came up, I searched the net trying to find any info on this place, and found nothing except some dodgy free host and boil in the bag website.

just weird! at least now its out in the open.
hopefully no-one else will get ripped off.

The same people seem to have another site up now called 'techlike' with the same cheap prices and payment methods
#24
Nowadays they are known as many names such as techlike.net:
http://techlike.net.shop356.com/auxpage_contact-us/
same address:
Mailing address: 4915 Bathurst St. Unit # 209
Toronto, Ont. M2R 1X9
Canada 145-147 St Johns Street
London EC1V 4PY
United Kingdom
Cyprus Office: Libra Tower 4th Floor
23 Olympion Street
Limassol 3605
Cyprus
Tel : +1 267 867 8031
Fax: +1 253 322 5203
+44 705 349 1896

Prices too good to be true, do not accept visa/paypal, only cash, of course a scam.

The worst is that they are shown prominently high in google shopping under several names and domain names:

Electronicworldtv ->http://expomagic.net/product/canon-eos-550d-digital-slr-camera/
buydigitalcamera ->http://proboutique.net/product/canon-eos-550d-digital-slr-camera/

and the domainname for the above shops seems to change every hour or so. The police should try to look for them, they are up for months.
#25
I checked out the address given from http://techlike.net.shop356.com

Centregold
4915 Bathurst St. Unit # 209
Toronto, Ont. M2R 1X9

They have a company which use a curency exchange service for money holding in different countries. There are numerous fraudulent websites which are affiliated to this and this site is a relatively small scam site compared to the major of affiliates.

Please do not use them, they will be reported. There is no reason why any company cannot use paypal, or display an active telephone number for their head office.

Please note. If any legitimate company wishes to trade legally, it is always the case that they can show who they really are. Thank you.
Good afternoon Good evening and Goodnight.

this site is a dupe trades as the the following names

buydigitalcamera
simplyelectronics
http://expomagic.net/
http://proboutique.net/
http://start2buy.net/
#27
As a result of a google search for ipads 'buydigitalcamera' and 'electronicworldtv' both came up and led to the same website proboutique.net.This appears to have the same contact details and narrative as the above comapnies. When I did a search on proboutique.net and techlike.net (who answered my email) nothing came up. Their prices do indeed seem too good to be true.
#28

Really appreciate the comments/advice - I was about to give them some money which it would seem would have been a mistake.
#37
it is a scams site,6 Feb I ordered a monitor from this site, since I paid 56 pound from ukash, this site not allow me log in ,and I cannot found anyway to contact them, and the order ID which I got ,the site shows can not found...........that is really naughty, now,,I do not know how to get my money back,,,
#38
Thank GOD for this website!! I was just about to order a camera lens, but red flags were going up EVERYWHERE for me...mainly due to the extremely low price, they don't take Visa/Mastercard or Paypal, and the strange address in Canada which basically shows up as a small shopping plaza in Toronto. This internet site should be investigated by the FBI and many other legal authorities out there. They're idiots!! Anyway, thank you all for your postings...hopefully now MINE will help the next person.
