Anyone buying the Sony Reader?

£0.00 @
As an avid reader, I'm tempted, but might wait to see if the price drops from £199 next year.

I would prefer a real book, not that I read much anyway.

way too expensive. £50 and I might be interested. I expect the ebooks cost the same as a normal book.

Apart from the screen specifically being designed for books, a PDA with ebook software or a Sony PSP with custom firmware and pdf viewer suffices until these come down to a more suitable price. £200 is a lot of money for a device with limited functionality.

Pre ordered one and it came yesterday 3rd :) I think its a great piece of kit, maybe a bit expensive but its was for the wifes birthday
it is slow with normal pdfs best to convert them really to sonys format, very basic but tidy and does what it says, the whole idea of it is the screen which is a lot easier to read than a laptop or tablet and it uses no battery life at all when displaying a page , the battery is only used to turn so the charge lasts forever , been googling and there are loads of ebooks to download for free

These things are going to be enormous sellers once the price comes down. The Amazon Kindle in the US with its wireless network sounds amazing but its way too expensive.....

Its a bit more cleverer than that. Whereas PDA uses a back light for the screen display the Sony Reader and Amazon Kindle use some kind of e-ink technology so it is more like reading from paper (supposedly).

Sounds kinda interesting, if I had the money to burn though!. Will wait a while until this e-ink tech gets more commonplace I think. Certainly if these untis were under £100 I can see more of a market for them, at £200 right now even as Christmas presents I can't see them selling in droves.
