Basically CPP are a sister company of Barclays, they deal with their Card protection policies.

They added the card protection to my credit card (£39.99) a few days ago, which I have recently got to a 0 balance.

They told me I am past my refund date as it was added on the 22nd march, but as I didn't get a statement until April 10th I had no idea it was on their.

I am really peeved as it is useless to me, and they have just added it to my account, on an appaarent automatic renewel.

Any ideas what I can say or do to get them to take it off?

Just tell them you didn't ask for it, you don't want it, and ask for a full refund. I'd be very surprised with all the recent furore about PPI if they didn't refund you immediately.

Tried that, apparently the person I spoke to couldn't see a refund button on his screen. Also its card protection not payment protection. I was given the address of their refund appeals department. I asked for a number but apparently that department doesn't have a phone line. (the fact they have a department setup purely to handle appeals/refunds of this card protection, actually makes me laugh)

Just contact barclays and demand they sort it out.

I decided to grab the bull by the horns. I told them that unless they remove it I will be going to the FSA, as it contains insurance it is governered by them. I was immediately told a supervisor will ring me within 24 hours. I will update this thread when resolved and hopefully this thread can help other people being ripped off by the banks having useless products forced upon them.

As an ex employee at CPP I can tell you exactly how this works. CPP activate credit cards for most of the main banks, and also confirm safe receipt of a lot of cards. They then try to sell you either card protection or Identity theft protection using high pressure sales techniques. All the sales are made from the use of a script designed to over hype the dangers involved.

They have to have a thing called permission to market before they can start the sales pitch and because most people believe that they are talking to a employee of their particular bank, give it.
Sales agents are pressurised into selling as many policies as possible and also to handle objections. In my opinion the policies are worthless and the firm plays on the fact that some people are easily talked into a purchase.

Most of the main banks are in cahoots with CPP and get a cut from all the profits, it is a shocking rip off.

You just revived a 3 month old thread, lol.

Anyway, as its been bumped I will now update what happened.

After I threatened them with the fsa I got a call from Manager saying as a "Gesture of good will" they will remove the 40 quid. I laughed and explained they had no choice and that was that.

:)
