Anyone Disappointed By Retailer "Sales" This Year Compared To Last?

I think retailers have been very scrooge like over Xmas and New Years with their sales.

There were much better bargains to be had this time last year.

Have to say that I've been very disappointed by pretty much all of them to be honest.

Agree/disagree?

Maybe we were all better off last year and had more cash/ plastic to spend which might explain why the sales don't seem to have been so good this year? I definately had more disposable income last year.

I think they blew it by starting the sales while everyone was still Xmas shopping. People just spent more before Xmas and less afterwards and the shops had fewer good sale bargains left.

They've shot themselves in the foot for next year as people will just wait for the sales to start next year before they start Xmas shopping.

To be honest, they started that trend a couple of years ago, hence why it had to happen again this year. The consumer is far too savvy now to be taken in by the inflated pre-christmas prices.

The sales this year are really poor. I usually get some good deals from Debenhams Sale but this year I have only ordered a few things.

Next Sale I ordered quite a bit online but most of it has gone back as it was either not what I ordered or it was quite poorly made (which is unusual for Next so I dont know what is going on there)

I ordered a couple of bits in the Boots Sale, mainly birthday presents for the coming year.

The sales definetely are not very good this year, probably because the shops are having to cut prices all year round to get any business that when the sales come around, they can't really lower the prices much more!

My girlfriend and i noticed a few things in Plays "Monster" sale that were dearer than when we bought them a few weeks before xmas :giggle:

Like a Homer Simpson T shirt i bought as a present for £4.99. It was then "reduced" to £6.99 in the sale only a week or two later....

I think the retailers have just got very lazy at categorizing sale items. They seem to just include anything that they are selling for less than the RRP and put it in the sale.

So although Play were selling that T shirt for only £4.99, it then went up to £6.99 but the RRP was always about £9.99 so technically its still been reduced, but they were just being lazy and trying to trick more people into thinking they were getting a bargain by including it in the sale.
