My box does this every so often. Just turn off at mains then backmon after a few seconds

I had this a couple of months ago when the weather went even slightly dicey. Some channels were ok, others not. I cancelled Sky and then rejoined as a new subscriber so got new box and installation. I asked the engineer to look into the problem I had so he tested the signal directly from the dish and said the signal was at its lowest possible and changed the dish, no problems now :)

mine's always saying this, bag of poo it is, control alt delete, or turn the plug off for a minute or two :p

yep had the same issue, it happens to me alot when it rains heavy so told sky to send someone down when it happens :D

Neighbours didn't record at lunchtime for the missus. Says power cut though i was sat watching tv so thats rubbish.

my box been doing it for the last hour, says to unplug for 5 minutes and restart, if problem continues to contact sky

I had this (I think) at weekend. Remote signal was reaching the box but it wasn't registering so was fast forwarding adverts but not being able to stop.

Happened at weekend, wouldnt be suprised if it was the evening for you and to do with the signal.

I can't find any channels working on free sat through a sky dish & box, not even sky news! Technical problem message on the screen.

For all No Satellite Signal / Technical Fault messages on your Sky box...

Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]



Then press [1] to go to the LNB Setup Menu.
Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
Wait 30 seconds
Press [SELECT].
Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
Press [SKY].

If this doesn't work,

Put box onto standby by pressing [STANDBY (top right of remote)]
Wait 30 seconds
Switch off at wall
Unscrew Dish Input Cable(s) (2 if Sky+/Sky+HD)
Ensure connectors are in good condition, not falling off the cable and pin straight in the middle
Screw back in finger tight
Switch on at wall
Wait a few minutes
Press [SKY]

If not working... You need an engineer or pray to your deity!

Oh also, on Sky+HD boxes, if you have only 1 dish input cable, make sure you have Single Feed Mode in LNB Setup set to ON otherwise you'll get No Satellite Signal 28.

ah thanks.
I plugged the telephone in - in case it was sulking, then pulled out all the sockets from the wall for 5 minutes. Plugged them in and it works now. Dh owes me one.
