Yes, awful.

The irony in it all is that it was actually pretty good before they re-vamped everything, now the site is riddled with bugs again. :(

lol..its true though, its quicker and easier to type what your looking for in google and use the link it provides to find the page your looking for in here rather than use the search engine in here

agreed....liked the old site way better

I actually think it's ok if you use advanced search which a lot of people don't
#8
I use google as well, 'tis strange that an outside search engine is more reliable then the forums own search engine.
#9
hit and miss tags screw it all up now and then

whatsThePoint
works fine for me, i guess a bit of common sense goes a long way

that's where I'm going wrong then :)

normal search box should be removed imo as its useless

The search is poor even if you use the advanced functions.............

Best bet is to use google and limit it to hotukdeals site by typing in site:hotukdeals.com in the google search box eg if you wanted to search for a thread that mentioned vodagone dongles you would type site:hotukdeals.com vodafone dongle

in what was is advanced search poor?

never fails me. I guess if you dont know what you are doing......:p

the 3 character minimum is a pain I must admit as is the having to put '+' in for multi-search terms

Try the example I mentioned. There is a thread posted 2 weeks ago about vodafone dongles on sale in Leeds Asda. If you use the advanced search to look for vodafone leeds dongle (search entire post, search all categories, search all forums) and limit it to the last month - it doesn't appear - its not even listed.

Type the same into google and the thread comes up straight away.

This was the thread I was looking for

I think that the search in ordinary and advanced is pretty poor. I use gary_rip's google search when I really want to find something!

I stand corrected - advanced search is obviously crap as well

guess I had never noticed that search wasnt returning a full list of results

still, I should expect it to be broken (like the rest of this site!).

Would love to be able to search within a thread too, asked for this many times but its never been added. Makes it a right pain to find what you are looking for in long threads!

I believe there is a way to do it using Firefox.......there is a thread about searching within threads in feedback.

install firefox autopager add-on and it preloads an entire thread if you want.

then CTRL and F to search the entire thread

e.g.
