I always thought that kind of thing was illegal, i'll keep these pics in mind when I launch a few bricks through some random windows on my way home from the pub at the wknd and if the police have the audacity to question me i'll just use the but I'm protesting against this evil evil capitalism and western society that I choose to live in excuse.

+1

But they could do a class-test to determine whether you'd be punished or not.

Middle-class means you'd be applauded for caring enough to do something

Working-class would mean a court appearance

how can throwing a chair through a window possibly be justified on a so called peaceful protest? I'd love to know how as thats what I'll tell the police when i'm getting arrested at 3 am on sat morning.

I watched the video earlier and I noticed that there appeared to be some encouragement from the 'audience' that was rather tasteless I thought

Oh, and when I say audience I mean the press that were clambering for a decent shot.

It can't be justified. I simply disagree with the notion that this person won't be punished.

That's because the tabloids need a nice shot of vandalism to show to the readers how evil these people are, thus discrediting their ideas.

You can't expect people to actually read about something can you?

I'm sure they will be too. The police will follow up on all the photos they can find.

it'll be interesting to see how many arrests and then prosecutions happen once the professional protestors jaunt off to whatever cause is next on their agenda and the police can study all the video, photographic and cctv evidence.

Yes, modern day policing, Keep out of the front line dangers, tape everything to study safely during coffee at a later date.

Funny how none of the media scum don't detain the idiot?

the only "scum" in that photo is the one smashing the window.

well the photographers aren't the ones smashing the windows. I know who i'd rather have labelled "scum".

They are probably paying him to do it, in order to get the pictures that the public seem to want to see.

then that'd go against all the capitalist principles he was supposedly protesting against in the first place.

If that protestor had been wearing a skirt the paps would've been trying to get an internal shot. They're the worst of the worst.

good way of trying to deflect the fact that the only one acting illegally and doing anything that warrants the term "scum" is the guy smashing the window.

if you want to debate the role of the media and the ethics of the paparazzi then start a thread.

The media are scum, the guy smashing the window is probably an idiot. Although it was a RBS window so it was partly his.

And, as you can't get charged for vandalising your' own property, we are still left with an idiot and scum from the press!

ah well I suppose "probably an idiot" is the greatest level of condemnation I'm going to get from you but does that rbs dig mean rather than smash some shop windows I can now go and vandalise some traffic lights, public toilets or even a hospital wing in the name of whatever cause takes my fancy because I partly own them to.

No, because then you would be scum, in your' own eyes! and an idiot too.

You have to be surrounded by photographers and it has to be April 1st. It's one of those old laws that never got repealed like being able to drive your flock through the Queen's back garden.

Personally i think RBS got lucky, alot of hate for the banks atm and i am sure they are not too ****** off about a few smashed windows.

Regarding the protests i think its all been blown out of proportion and the fact that 100 people with big expensive cameras were taking those pictures shows how sparse the violence was.

I don't know what you want me to say. Condemn him further? He's an idiot for breaking a window in front of the press, so he'll probably get arrested.
