jonnykajonnyka

Now I'm gona get slagged for puttin life story on here tonight but soooo... :)

Only a few days ago I woke up in hospital after taking a seizure/fit.. I took it in my sleep!!!! Woke up in hospital on a trolley in a corridor.... This was a few days after my missus got injured in an assault so they are saying it cud have been brought on by stress....

The day leading up to it I kept getting intense feelings if de ja vu and feeling very odd..... I had never taken one before..... Hospital took ecg and brain scan all normal but doctor has put me off work for month as I can not go back to work until I see a neurologist in like 3 weeks..... It is not epilepsy until you have more than one seizure....

can be down to low sodium levels in the blood, have you cut out all salt from your diet, or been given any new medication lately, as that can have an effect on having seizures, but like you said it could also be down to stress.

Nope don't usually take much salt anways but not changed salt intake.....

I don't take any medications.... I hadn't eaten for like 2 days would that do it???? The hospital didnt give much advice thats for the neurologist to give me soooo kind if intrigued as to why I keep getting the feeling that stuff all seems soooo different to me now like clearer or something but I can't shut my brain down tonight even tho I'm wrecked :)

I don't know that much about epilepsy, I only know a small amount as one of the people I cared for was epileptic, and had a massive seizure, due to a drug given to him by the doctors, that kind of took most of the sodium out of his body, which would have caused a fit in a healthy person, so was 10 times worse for him.

Could have had something to do with the not eating.

I can't shut my brain down tonight, think it's all the storms around where I live. lots of thunder tonight

Hello I totally understand how you feel.I was attacked by a gang for no apparent reason this was long time ago but I have daily part and full seizures.I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy and was a lot of medication which really did not help.A while ago I was told that I may not have epilepsy but could not confirm it either way so now I do not whats what now.I have the same feelings of de ja vu sometimes watching tv I seem to lose time and miss a lot of the program I was watching.I have been taken into hospital so many times I cannot count, now I just try and avoid Doctors because one Doctor tells you one thing and another something totally different.yes stress can make it worse.Do you smell smoke or strange smells this also a sign of epilepsy.but there are lots of different types over 40 I was told, after being attacked it totally ruined my life and I still do not get support.I hope you get more tests to help you it may take sometime but I really wish you all the best and hope this does not affect your life in the future.

you need to try and relax, at 26 you prob not used to doing that, try dark room with only candle light, soft chill music, scented candles, and cuddles, make sure u are warm but not too hot

a friend of mine developed epilepsy later in life.

when you first experience someone having a fit it really is a little scary.....people dont know what to do and most people panic.....all you can do is make sure there is nothing nearby that they could hurt themselves on.

seems a few members deem it acceptable to mock people with disabilities and learning problems

I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 22. Was seizure free for 15 years. Thought I was ok so came off my medal 9 years ago. Big mistake. Had a seizure last October. Back on medication but the biggest inconvenience was having to surrender my licence.

Stay safe. I also knew someone very well who died due to their epilepsy. She had a seizure in the bath. If it is epilepsy for you, get plenty of sleep and avoid stress. Although with the latter it's not like you look for it, it usually finds you. Also, read up on how to safety advice.

I used to work with a lovely guy called Neil. He was only 18/19 and in his bedroom watching Harry Enfield and chums.

His dad was downstairs and heard Neil laughing from time to time. Suddenly he heard Neil laughing very loudly and then a crashing sound on the floor. No more laughter.

He went upstairs and Neil was on the floor, having suffered a fit and then falling off his bed.

He was unconcious and rushed to hospital where he recovered. They believe the excessive laughing had brought on the fit. He was.ok within days but not allowed to drive for a set period of time which was sad as he had got a jeep for his birthday.

I new him for several years after and he never had another seizure so I guess it was a one off and hopefully yours will be too.

you have to go 12 months without a fit to be able to get your licence - my cousin was 4 days away from his 12 month mark and looking forward to be able to take his test !
