I ordered a laptop from Dixons website on the 2nd May (last Monday bank holiday). They informed me I would received the parcel 48 hours after they sent me an order confirmation email, and that they would be sending it via DHL. I received an online tracking number.

Here's where it gets very annoying:

Parcel with courier for delivery 07/05/11 BRISTOL HOME DELIVERY

Out for delivery 06/05/11 05:18 BRISTOL HOME DELIVERY

Passed to delivery courier 05/05/11 23:20 BRISTOL SERVICE CENTRE

Arrived At Depot 05/05/11 23:19 BRISTOL SERVICE CENTRE

Parcel with courier for delivery 05/05/11 BRISTOL HOME DELIVERY

Unable to gain timely access 05/05/11 08:03 NULL BRISTOL HOME DELIVERY

Out for delivery 05/05/11 05:24 BRISTOL HOME DELIVERY

Out for delivery 05/05/11 05:00 BRISTOL SERVICE CENTRE

Passed to delivery courier 04/05/11 22:04 BRISTOL SERVICE CENTRE

Arrived At Depot 04/05/11 20:33 BRISTOL SERVICE CENTRE

It seems they attempted to delivered it on the 5th at 8am and were unsuccesful. No note was left.

It states that the next two days the item was handed to the courier in the morning but returned to the depot in the evening without a sign of delivery (I waited in all day and had a note on the door saying to take next door if there was no answer).

What are they playing at? If the tracking is right then why does the courier keep taking it out for delivery but never delivers it?

Anyone else experienced this, or could offer any advice?
I have emailed them (no reply) and cannot find a phone number to call

Cheers

I've had a lot of problems organising collections with DHL and little luck contacting them, I mailed them when they'd missed a pickup and only just received a reply over a week later.

Just managed to retrieve a laptop from them yesterday that they have had since 21April. No tracking info available online, no note through the door, no attempt to redeliver it, then two 20 minute phone calls to the customer services.Picked it up from my local depot in the end. Absolutely diabolical

We just had problems with them, stayed in all day thurs - checked online and said they couldnt deliver at 2pm which was complete bull, so after many phonecalls got it delivered yesterday at 12 but we only knew they were there as we saw them, im sure they don't know how to knock doors!

Your first mistake was waiting in for them.
Dont.
Wait till on line says returned to depot .
Go to depot and collect.
I know you paid for delivery but 30 min trip to collect is better than waiting in all day ????.

Looks like DHL have passed your delivery onto a third party courier but not 100% sure. The only phone number I know of is 0870 4444804 but I dont know of a non 0870 alternative.

Would love to help more but I only deal with chilled and frozen distribution! You got your fish fingers ok right? lol

That is true but on the online tracking it states this:

"Arrived At Depot 05/05/11 23:19 BRISTOL SERVICE CENTRE "

Im pretty sure it won't be open to the public that time, however, I am going to find out the address and go down as this is not on. They've got a parcel of mine that is worth of £350 and are being absolutle morons.

Does anyone have a phone number?

A lot of DHL & HDN (yodel) depots are closing very soon, so this sort of thing is gonna happen more and more, deliveries will get later and later, and more deliveries will fail. I wouldnt like to rely on next day delivery imho.

Cheers, will give it a ring tomorrow if anyone answers oO

What I don't understand is that it states the item has been handed to the courier THREE TIMES now and it sitll hasn't been delivered. Dixon's are getting an email now for using such an incompotent courier.

I would have rather have spent the £50 I saved online by going to the shops and getting one in person.

Thats just a general CS number for somewhere in Northampton I think. Better off phoning the depot direct.

no the 1st mistake was dealing with Dixons !!!

You could try ringing Dixons and tell them to sort it out? DHL deliveries have been totally mucked up by all the bank holidays and the YODEL thing, and if it is out for delivery and the driver runs out of time, it just goes back to the depot ...
#15
here's my recent experiences with DHL, still unexplained & unresolved http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/dhl/927706/#post11219954

when I emailed DHL the reply was

Unfortunately at this time we are unable to provide you with an update on your shipment.
Please contact your supplier who will need to contact us and raise an investigation on your behalf.

3 bedroom house with a double drive in a street away from any main roads. Have never had an issue with receiving deliveries from couriers before.

Such an awful service.

it depends. DHL handel next day and economy deliveries, the next day are given priority, the courier can leave the economy parcels until the next day if too busy, so "out for delivery" doesnt alway mean it will be delivered that day. Also the parcel might not return to the depot, DHL use home couriers (like hermes) who would take the parcels back to their own homes.

Damn Dixons for not offering an alternative delivery option. This has annoyed me so much Id rather have a refund and go buy one from the shops. Imagine if something goes wrong with the laptop (if I ever receive it). The returns procedure is going to be an absolute nightmare.

Have a pop at Dixons on here about the crap service they offer, which includes their preferred carrier get satisfaction.com Dixons, there is a guy called Leigh from Dixons, who is very good at sorting problems out when I had one.

by the way, DHL had a computer of mine stolen from their depot. It was sent from Acer to Comet, reached their depot, then was stolen. Their manager admitted they had a thief on the premises. Needless to say, Comet, DHL, Acer all passed the buck and I was treated like dirt. Never shop at Comet.

I think every retailer should offer who delivers their order. amazon were rumoured to bring this in, but havent yet. Ive had major problems locally with parcelforce, my house is a few years old, and even though Ive had every company deliver to me several times over, when drivers get fed up and leave i get fresh problems with them not knowing the estate (as sat navs and maps havent updated). drivers come and go on a weekly basis which doesnt help.

Cheers mate - I'll ask a question on that site now.
#25
Also, would anyone have any understanding on Dixon's cancellation policy? The website states that you can cancel the order before it is delivered to you.

As the item has not been delivered then surely I could cancel the order now and leave it for them to sort out? The online tracking clearly shows that it hasn't been delivered and I don't want to waste any more time chasing this up. If I cancelled the order then they would have to get the laptop back themselves and refund me right?
#26
if it was me I'd ring them & speak to a "human" 08445 61 62 63 or I'm not sure if you use twitter :
If you have a delivery issue or general customer issue and not sure where to go tweet our Delivery specialist Twitter account @dixonsdelivery – you’ll find a nice guy called Leigh who knows more about delivery than a postman

Laptop finally came today.

Dixons have received a hostile email nonetheless :P

Nah. There's summat spooky going on. There was one the other week bumped from about 2 years ago. One poster might have been acceptable but there must have been half a dozen newbies all on the same day and all the posts seemed eerily similar.

It's actually a combination of (at least):

1. Genuine people searching on info, or realising they can answer questions and reactivating dead threads (often without realising, as they don't check the date). Like I have just done on this one.

2. Real people who are just spammers.

3. Spambots like xrumer which have very clever algorithms which make posts on threads which are almost but not quite relavent to the thread topic.

They don't always post spam immediately, the spam links appear in their post and profile page later on when they have got past any 'new poster' monitor, the thread is less active and nobody is looking until it is reactivated or somebody lands on it via google,

The modern spambots have a quite eerie presence, they 'converse' at an angle to the ongoing topic, posters on drugs almost, and if you have ever used a chatterbot like ELIZA, you will recognise the effect.

Yodel is the courier company overseeing DHL, Home Delivery,Parcelpoint. Thet are the worst courier company - now awaiting third parcel from a company and quess what 5 days on they havent delivered and to say they are lazy, no card in our post yet they say that we are on holiday - not true. Because they do not recognise the postcode on a new build that is in a small village they cant be bothered to make an attempt to deliver, I have just spent 25 mins on phone to CServ. they say i will recieve the parcel tomorrow. I wait with baited breath. they just want you to collect at depot Its seems cheaper for them. I live in Durham they are based in Stockton.

I've had the same problem. Yesterday i waited in all day for no parcel to arrive, no card through the door, nothing! I've been waiting over 3 weeks for my order to be processed and package delivered and i don't have a car to go an pick it up. I emailed yodel last night to see what the hell is going on and because it is now a Saturday and I'm doubting that I'm going to hear anything from them until Monday if at all. My biggest fear is that its going to end up back at sports direct and they are going to send it out again with the same result in this stupid loop hole of a courier service. 1 thing is for sure I'm never using sports direct and their **** service again!

Anyone know the phone number for DHL general enquires?
