You need a new HDD.

Also have you played around with the HDD settings in BIOS recently?

is this your computer?,
it seems strange it has a secondary OS on it and you don't know the password?
not sure i should be advising a potential burglar?

If you've got Ubuntu on it you must be a geek and should be able to sort it yourself. Unless of course you've heard the big boys talk about Ubuntu and Linux and stuff and tried to pretend you're one of them.

I'm near Oxford, get in a boat and row it to me

switch PC on
boot to the BIOS menu
you usually have to keep pressing delete at start up
go to boot priority
make sure HDD is first
if it doesnt work
change it to CD-ROM
boot xp disc

Good point. Seems to be the way HUKD is going atm; we had another guy asking about removing anti-burglar grease a couple of days ago.
