Im currently writing a personal statement. I've used the word communicate too much.

"Through work experience, voluntary activities and retail work I have improved my ability to communicate with people from a wide range of ages and varied social backgrounds."

How can i change this so that it's the same meaning but without the communicate. Anyone know some good synoynms? Help is appreciated. I was thinking maybe use socialise instead of communicate but i dunno.

Im not the brightest when it comes to vocabulary, and thesaurus doesn't help much...

I like that, sounds nice, but does it work within that sentance?

The construction of that sentence is confused anyway hun.

You want it to flow easily so write it as simply as possible.

What are you actually trying to say?

That you have developed the ability to communicate effectively with people from all social strata through experience in the workplace, voluntary activities and retail work?

Say so then :)

Send me a copy of what you're trying to put together by PM if you like and I'll go through it for you xxx

Through work experience, voluntary activities and retail work I have gained significant ability and understanding of people from a wide range of ages and varied social backgrounds."

I don't think you need to use communicate as you say you have used it before and prehaps this above gives you more of an overall impression of understanding people.
