i dont know what kind of books you are into...

i like to read books mainly about the templar knights era / anything to do with rome and its legions / and most military spook style novels

search for these authors
Duncan Falkoner
Cameron Spence
Stephen Leather
Ben Kane
Anthony Riches
Bernard Cornwell

loads of good titles among those few peeps...

Thank you I'll have a look.

Should've included what I'm into really haha!!

I like History, modern world, stalin and hitler etc. NOT BRITISH.

Anything related to linguistics/journalism.

And A little bit of philosophy/ethics.

The abduction - mark gimenez

and it was really good :)

Stephen E. Ambrose

The guy who wrote Band of brothers (Which is a true masterpiece of a book) also wrote many others on World War Two, ALL of them excellent.

i find that going to charity shops or the market is a good way of getting good "cheap" books - hasn't been to a library for a long time - and you're right the ones in leeds are pap - one in Hobeck looks like it hasn't had any new books for about 20 years !

aha tell me about it. every book I've searched has like 4 copies scattered around the entire Leeds area.

I'm skint - student - whixh is why I am caning my library card.

If they have them somewhere you can always reserve them and then collect from your local library when available - it costs 60p a book in my area, which is cheaper than buying it.
I use the online catalogue to search for stuff I want - I'm sure Leeds will have a similar system.

Yeah that's what I have open in a tab at the mo.

I try to stick to 3 certain libraries as I'm really reluctant to pay out....again, I cannot stress how skint I am.

catcher in the rye is my fav book

Yep - I'd certainly agree with Catcher in the Rye.
Can't recommend The Shipping News highly enough tho'. Terrific book.

I am back from the library and I have the following.

'Get her off the pitch' by Lynne Truss. I hate Lynne truss but her books make me smile cos she's that much of a div.

Am I alone in thinking - which is a book of unpublished letters to the daily telegraph. It may be a laugh.

And one I'm really looking forward to is 'Just a phrase I'm going through' which is David Crystal's autobiography!!
