Anyone having Sky+ Problems...

My Sky+ box wouldn't switch on this morning, after ages of trying I gave up and left it. By this evening it would switch on but none of the Sky + facilities would work and my planner had been wiped clean (Boo ... my whole Desperate Housewife collection gone before I started to watch them!!!).

I called and was talked through a system reset but when it didn't get it working they said I would have to pay £65 for someone to come and check the box!!! Anyhoo, I went onto ebay and bought a "fix-your-own-Sky+" e-file and hey presto I fixed it all by myself!!!!! (It was nothing they couldn't have told me to do over the phone btw - cowboys!!)

In case any of you have got the permanent standby issue .. try the following:

switch off at the wall and then hold the left and right directional buttons on the front panel.. switch back on and wait until the large green cirle goes green... when it does (it will start flashing).. hit the select button the front panel.. the green circle will go backwards for a few minutes.

It will then go into standby mode.. leave two mins and then you're good to go...

(warning - this will reset the box and lose all your planner programmes so only do it as a last resort)

Yes I had to resort to this one in the end (even though I wasn't stuck on standby)- however, this alone didn't solve the problem. There are two less drastic fixes to try first, and although this final one got the sky+ function back, I had to do the other two afterwards to get it to actually play anything!!! Crazy machines!
