It sounds to me that the blame should be on the teaching staff! time to ask for a meeting with the Chair of the board of governers

Tell him to try B-Tec

Why doesn't he delay university until next year. He could then spend another year trying to get better grades. Maybe go to a college or private tuition.
#12
he studies, does all his course work and in last 3 weeks has done course work, sat 4 As exams, he may not be a A star student, but he does his best..

surely they cannot be right in saying to him leave now or we'll permantly exclude you, just because they 'think' he'll score low in exams??

head said if he excludes him, it'll be on his recordes for life, so better to leave now... sounds like a blackmail??

i don't know what rights etc we have.. the exams are not so far away now

They cant exclude him for bad grades or can they?

Sounds to me like they don't want him to mess up their averages in the league table. Go speak to your local MP about it.

they cant do that!!, once your in at A2 they cant kick you out for bad grades, go in and tell them why cant he sit his exams in june? worst comes to worst they kick him out, the june modules, and the retakes he wants to do can be done externally so no need to retake all As and A2 modules, ive got about 12 exams in june most are re-takes.

They can't exclude him for that......you need to find a solicitor who specialises in education and they will write a letter to the school.

have been researching online, seams can be excluded for fighting, drugs, weapons racism etc...but nothing about forecast grades

Hope you've not been giving him "advise" on spelling....

They can not exclude him prior to the exams. If he has committed to the year, they cannot base that decision on mock / forecast results.

Generally mock / forecast grades are lower.

Just tell your son to put lots of effort in, be 100% committed and after his results assess the situation.

Also his exclusion will only be on his current schools record not on any other record.

I have got a degree; BSc Hons (2:1) from a top university.... it doesn’t mean poo. I wish i never went to uni and did more of a vocational / work and training course. I have learnt a little experience is worth more than allot of education.

Hope it all works out well for him.

Unfortunately most people in this thread are wrong as far as I am aware, post-16 the school can pick and do what they want. It is pretty standard practice as in most cases it doesn't help any of the parties involved.

They won't exclude him, that doesn't really exist post-16; it is a very different procedure.

That's disgusting that they are threatening to exclude someone who WANTS to be there and does his work. I can't believe they would be allowed to do that. Fight all the way! Good luck xxx
