Anyone know a phone that...

I can change the sim card on without having to take the battery out each time. I swap sims quite regularly and it's a dream with my nokia 2652 as the sim slot is on the side so I can change sims easily and the phone reboots v.quickly so I'm on the move again.

But, I need to be able to do it on the 3 network soon and my 2652 doesn't support the 3 network so I'm looking for a similar phone if someone knows of one.

Also looking for a decent phone to use as my main phone, looking for something like a motorola v3, I guess that may be the phone for me. Like a flip phone with a screen on the outside that has cool flashy lights like my 2652 if possible!

Cheers guys!

Cheers jules,

How do you do it? Is there a slot on the side or is it behind the cover above the battery? If it takes as much time as a normal phone then I probably wouldn't bother, it's just the 2652 is sooo easy, just pull open slot, whack sim in, close slot!

Have you looked into dual sim holders at all? They are basically a frame which holds two sim cards which you can switch between physically or automatically - have a look here:

http://www.m-99.co.uk/Mobile_Phone_Twin_SIM_Adapters/mobile_phone_twin_sim_adapters.html

Unfortunately with phones being so small these days there aren't that many compatible with new phones - there is the Ghost Sim which allows two sim cards in the space of one but this involves cutting them up which looks a bit risky.

On the N93 the sim card sits on its own section under the rear cover and can be quickly swapped over without touching the battery, while it's a flip phone with external display I doubt it's of interest to you due to the large size and weight.

See what I mean?

The sim card isn't under the battery, so you flip the back off it and slide the sim card out.

See what you mean, they're both nice phones aren't they? Maybe I could combine both purchases and get a phone that suits both of my needs? How much would those phones set me back?

Mine was free but on contract, don't know how much the handset is on it's own- it's the Samsung U600. Looks nice from the front too and the display and camera are great.

The n93 looks COol!!

That's very much what I'm after, not really bothered about features but like the look of the 2652 and think the n93 looks a bit more futuristic but retains the same coolness if you know what I mean???

So the n93 allows changing of the sims without taking the battery out the same as juliet has described?

Think they're about £80 from memory, if the n93 is a similar price then I'm gonna have to go for it as the screen turning round like that is just too cool!!! Does it go all the way round or just 90 degrees?

Totally agree, the N93 is a good looking phone :)

It's a little simpler than the one Juliet has shown, there's no cover over the sim - you just unhinge it and slide it out. You might want to see one in the flesh, I'd be surprised if you like the phone...as I mentioned, it's big and 180g in weight which is very hefty. It does have an excellent camera and video recording plus it's Series 60 but in many other areas it's quite lacking compared to its N95 successor. Not sure how prices are now, I know they dipped on the N95 release but I'd be surprised if they were under 100 pounds.

The screen is only hinged on one side so you can open it normally like a flip, open it like a laptop or open it like a camcorder - this is a multi-shot showing a couple of the positions plus closed simultaneously:

This is a review I wrote when I received the phone, it has a variety of pictures:

oh, and does the n93 have a screen on the top so you can see who's calling before you answer? That's the only thing I wish I had on the 2652. Not bothered about features, just the coolest looking (preferably flip) phone there is!!!

bare in mind n93 is n series and also its massive. if you dont mind features go for the u600 id say.

aahh! I carry around an xda exec at the mo which is even bigger than usual because of the extra large battery I put on it. I assume it's smaller than that? Any idea of the price of one of those???

It has a small graphic display on the outside which shows battery and network strength in standby, plus stuff like caller ID, current time, mp3 playing etc.

It is quite a bit smaller than the XDA Exec, around the same size and weight as the XDA Mini S. I have some pictures of it alongside the VPA Compact III in the review link.

No idea on price, it wasn't a common/popular phone so I'd imagine it's not that cheap.

You're right john, a good deal over £100. I think it can wait!!! Maybe a v3 to see me through? Any idea on a cheap phone that sims can be swapped easily? Or maybe I get a u600 and use that for both?
#23
£100 for the U600 too!

Maybe just a v3 and put up with having to take a battery out of a basic phone every so often!

but you just said 3 sim at the beginning thats why i said you will need a 3g phone. if you understand all 3 sims require a 3g phone to work if you didnt know.

I dont know of non 3g fones accepting 3 sims i think or am i totally wrong.

but im sure a u600,v3 6230 etc will not work.

You're totally right! Sorry, I was thinking about for my main phone, I don't need 3g with that, but for swapping 3 sim cards I will!!! I assumed the phones listed were 3g, I guess not now!

Think I'm gonna stick with my 6630 for using on the 3 network and put up with having to take out the battery. Will keep an eye out for a deal on a v3 or similar, missed the recent one!!!
