I didnt mean it in a real bad way, just a show off then maybe. If I said I have a saab, a scooby and an SLK, you would think I was a **** too, Thats why its best not to show off.

If you intend buying a sports car then fuel economy is not going to be high on the agenda. Power, performance and handling are probably of more importance.

As with any German car, it will do the job with astonishing efficiency.

if you got the bills then why not show off.

OP how old are you? do you earn enough to keep the car running? Insruance is another factor

I have a 46kbmw its a gas guzzler but I love it. MAD fast

well its only as a spare car, i have a perfectly good jag for my normal running around, i just have always wanted a porsche, i would love a 911 but in order for me to get one for what i want to spend its gonna have miles to compare with the millenium falcon!!!
The boxster should do just fine for now

poor mans porsche my A*&*&. Jealousy is an ugly thing. They are brilliant cars particularly the 3.2. 2.7 at a minimum dont get the 2.5.
They are good on fuel economy, superb to drive, great in summer, but cold in the winter. The heated seats help with that though. They are almost bombproof, if you like them get one, ignore the people with no money

i know it is jealousy but i can cope with it, hell i dont have that much myself, just made a few lucky moves along the way, thats why i arent rushing down to buy a brand new 996 cabrio, the cash has to last!!!
I would only use it as a good weather car and very rarely thrash it, thats what the jags for!!
Thanks for the advice, have you got one then?

Well in terms of 'being a Porsche' it does but not otherwise particularly with its slowish 2.5/2.7 engines, the Z4 has a solid range of engines some of which outperform the Boxster at the same level although the Z4 is generally held in fairly good regard. Ultimately I'd say a lot of it comes down to personal preference as I see a lot of disagreement over the Boxster and its rivals in terms of which people prefer. If you'd like a Porsche though it's obviously a good choice as it's not a car which just wears the badge (like the Cayenne...ugh!)

I wouldn't be so hung up about the mileage though as it's not a good indicator of the car, they're generally well built and should be able to take some miles so if it's been well looked after a few miles aren't anything to worry about. As with any car condition is really much more important, that's just a case of seeing the car, checking through its history etc. What you do want to avoid is cars that have had a hard life and seen plenty of track use (saw lots of them at the Ring and sadly some of them had perished as a result with mechanical failures) as these are the ones to avoid even if they have lower mileages as obviously you don't want one that's been thrashed hard for each of its miles.

Had quite a few, started many years ago with a 944, moved on to a few 911's then on to bmw's had a Z3 and a Z4. The boxster is the most fun by a mile. I went for the 2.7 as I was using it every day. I have an M3 it the minute but I dont look forward to driving it like the boxster and am seriously thinking of getting another one. The problem was just the 2 seats, nowhere for the wife to sit :whistling:

hahaha i have an audi cab at the mo and its good if me, my boy and my gf want to go out, i think my missus will have to make her own way if negotiations go well tomoro!!!
Saying that I have a chance of a couple of 996 at almost the right money, im just adverse to paying more than i need to, after all it is just a toy.
Ive had a beemah before and it was ok, never set the world alight though, but couldnt fault it all the same, i guess it likes owning an alfa, proper drivers car but god alone knows why
