my parents went to india 3 weeks ago and left there dog (bitch) with the same friends they always do. but this time they have there own dog. it has been getting to my parents dog every chance it has and she is not happy off her food and growling all the time. now as far as i no dogs cant get preganent unless they are in seson (and she is not) but she is not the same dog and has already put on some weight. how can i cheer her up.

she just seems down.

Take her away from the other dog.

If it's trying to hump her she will be snappy - think how most women are with unwanted attention!

try a marrow bone for her to chew and be occupied in the day. long walks morning and evening. she will probably be relieved just to be away from the other dog

thats what dogs do your parents dog is in another dogs territory would take weeks to sort but they just working out who's top dog pack mentality not worth putting her back because it would be no fun for the people looking after her

dogs can go long hours without being out and ts only 1 week so stick with it

give the dog some treats like chicken roll, to help her recover, its hard for them to resist the smell, so will eat. leave something on like tv or radio or something of your parents smell to settle, this all helps to keep them calm whilst you out. important to leave water out and dog meal in case they need to eat. try to feed the dog at the same time your parents did.

feeding was one of the probs they feed her the same time they did there dog. she has never been to my house before ( moved 6 months ago)

She's probably just in a foul mood with all the changes and is wondering where her Mum and Dad is.
My dog doesn't 'speak' to me for about a day if i go away and leave him with my folks for a weekend.
Just give her lots of treats and attention.

just gave her a treat (all over my new carpet but who cares) and had a play llet her have a good bark now she is runing aroun in the garden) i think some one on one attention is what she needs.

I'd take the dog to the vet to get her checked out. She may have contracted an illness or something.
