Mainly attic convertions and fire doors,
I have just bought a house to do up, the attic has been converted (with planning permission in 2004)
I have spoke to 3 different people from the planning control department and have been given 3 different answers, I asked which doors needed to be replaced with fire doors, i was told, only the attic door, then i was told all the first floor and attic, then i was told all dwelling rooms, can anyone clarify what it is or point me into the direction of someone who can?
cheers.

cheers for the like, the way i read it was all doors (exept bathroom and cupboards)
does that sound right?

I could be wrong but the fire door advice appears to be only when the house is classed as multiple occupancy ie letting it out to 3 or more separate lodgers. Not for normal residence.

Is that what that means?

Mate in Aberdeen had to do all his doors apart from bathroom as fire doors when he did a loft conversion last year. This included rooms on a different floor.

No idea if rules are same for each council or indeed throughout the UK.

a cheapo fire approved door is about £25 from a builders merchant if you can find one lol

good price! Mate told me that his doors were just under £250 fitted - that included all facings, ironmongery etc

I have just had my loft converted, work finished a week ago. The fire doors are fitted to new loft room first floor bedrooms not bathroom as it is not a living area, then i had to have a partition built from bottom on enclosed stairs to front door with fire door into living room. Plaster board both sides of walls to give 30 mins fire proofing.
only way to get out of having hallway erected was a 3k sprinkler system! if you already have an enclosed route of exit from stairs to front door then just fit a fire door.
