so we bought my little one a goldfish last week as he has been so good and wanted one, we bought him a baby biorb and after letting the tank settle etc for a good 24hrs we went to get him a fish, now this is only last sunday, but yesterday after noticing poor old fred was a little lethargic i noticed he has white specs over him, after a little search on the net we found out he has "whitespot" so i went today to get him some drops for the water but he has got lots worse, he is pretty much lifeless mostly and occasionaly swimming around, now im not 100% sure he will make it through the night so would like some help on anyones previous experiences, but also we bought him pellet food and wonder if giving him two small pellets a day is enough? its what the guy in pets at home told us to give him but the advice on the pack says he may eat more

many thanks, and fingers crossed he is a healthy little swimmer soon enough

hi baby biorbs aren't ment to have orandas in them . only white colouds or danios . its two small for them and they can't breath . the warter will be very high in ammonia and nitrate . this is poisoness to fish . even the manufacture reef say don't put them in their . I work in a pet shop and had a few customers with this problem . I would go back their and complain. If you ring biorb people they will tell you this as well

aw dont tell me that we asked the advice of pets at home and they said it would be fine for two orandos and that would be it, he is very ill and now and again he snaps out of it and goes for a swim but increasingly less so.

Whats the prognosis re the whitespot then? do you know about it?

Cheers

Pets at Home are rubbish for advice, best go to a specialist shop.

Get fishy out quick or he'll be dead soon

i feel rotten now, the only place for him is the washing up bowl, so what fish do we need to get in there then? pets at home seemed very knowledgeable but now i hear what youre saying, we feel terrible

depends who serves you their ! get them out or they will die. baby bi orbis way to small. the middle one 30 liter can have three in it . white spot is caused by stress / or poor water quality
#7
go back and tell them . . take a water sample with you as well.

no with the amount of fish waste and small amount of water this will be bad . if you leave him in their tonight . but get to the shop as soon as possiable. when you go in just tell them you were told you could put them in the baby biorb which you were told would be ok . but its dieing and you now know they aren't supposed to be kept in their . i think it says on the baby packaging . have a check

don't feel bad hun :?

at least you care about him

water sample they can test for levels...like nitrate ammonia etc.. or you can do it yourself but you have to buy a kit which is pointless if they will do it for free
#16
yeah at least you care mate...you search on youtube and watch all the sick people who post videos of fighting fish attacking snakes, and piranhas eating goldfish its sick
#17
you will have high levels of ammonia , nitarte, nitrite and maybe the ph will be high. when will you get their ? if its going to be a few days take 10 % water out and put new in and put tap safe in .

i have a baby biorb but with danios in it and i've the 30 liter one as well . just don't tell u were talking to me lol

ill try the peas, he is a bit see through and his little tummy looks a bit pogged up, hope that helps him, is there chance of overfeeding him though?

not a whole pea, just a tiny bit for the next couple of days, he may need a good poop :)

UPDATE!!!!

just looked at one of the rocks at the back of his tank and he has had a huge dump!! and he had a swim flurry following it too so he may have been constipated on top of the whitespot, he has sadly gone back to dangling about in the water now though, but gives us a little hope

monday is fish delivery we knock lights off for a few hours so the fish can de stress . they go back on sale later that day

i tried the bit of pea thing before noticing he had dumped like a great dane but the pea sank, he might snaffle it from the bottom if he feels bunged up,

#28
good luck . let me know how you get on x
#29
to be honest wouldn't put any more wish with fred . if he goes get some danio's their good when their a bit bigger or white clouds. their a shoaling fish so either 5 danios or five white clouds - fred i'm afraid . maybe they will take him back . but they don't usually do this x

no i didnt, i got stuck down south today and unfortunately have to travel back down in the morning, his whitespot has decreased now but he is still very lethargic, i think he might be constipated but he wont eat the peas, they just sink, lol
