yeah id recommend cutepdf too - just go to print the document then select it as the printer and it will save it as a pdf for you.

Or you could install OpenOffice. It can read word docs and write pdfs without any other software required. I use OpenOffice 3 at home and MS Office 2007 at work and I definately prefer OpenOffice.

I'm not saying he has to keep using it, but he could install it, convert the document to pdf and then uninstall it.

hummmm will any of these convert a pdf into a doc?

I have a protected pdf file that won't let me print it out but if I could convert it I might be able to print it?

Can you not just CTRL-A and paste into Word?

i did once upon a time use some software to crack a protected ebook. so that I could copy sections for use in my college work. but that was many years ago, i don't remember what tools i used and doubtless they've updated the security since then.

if you install the trial of adobe acrobat (not reader) then you might be able to do more with it but i expect it will just ask you for the password.

you can print it by pressing print screen and dumping screenshots one at a time into an editing program, you can probably find a program that will capture everything in the window maybe.

I've heard tell btw that openoffice ignores the security in pdfs, i can't confirm tho. so you could perhaps try that.

I didn't realise until a couple of weeks ago you can upload docs to scribd and then download it as a PDF file. Good backup as well for me.

http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp will apparently let you screenshot whole windows, by automatically scrolling the window down and taking continuous screendumps.
