Anyone know of a software tool, driver patch or whatever that gives some control over the fan speed of a nVidia GPU fan?

As the title suggests, my gfx card fan has progressively become noisier. I just took it apart, cleaned and lubricated it and it is better but still has moments when you can hear it.

As I don't do much gfx intensive gaming etc, I wondered if anyone knows of a software tool, driver patch or whatever that gives some control over the fan speed of a nVidia GPU fan?

The fan runs permanently at the moment which is excessive if you ask me.

Card is a POV 7600GT using latest nvidia driver.

Thanks. Will give it a go. Always thought that was just for Riva cards! Maybe they should change the name :)

That heatsink is for a motherboard northbridge really... even then i dont think it would be any good for newer hotter chipsets.

rivatuner just crashes under vista. I'm gonna try just unplugging the fan as i dont use any extensive graphics.

well - its very quiet now ;)

If you have any spare headers on the motherboard you can plug the fan into one of those and monitor the fan speed through windows.

atitool lets you control fanspeed vs temperature, and yes it is nvidia compatible

use a zalman fanmate to control it
