It all started friday night, when sudden immense pain in my abdomen forced me to go to A&E. After doing blood & urine tests they couldn't find anything and they told me it may be colic and it will go in a couple of hours.

But it hasn't yet and the pain has moved to my right hand side of my abdomen. I've been sick a number of times on saturday morning and I can see swelling on my right hand side.

I have a feeling it might be appendicitis but when I went to A&E they said it couldnt be.

Has anyone else had these symptoms?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It could have been early appendicitis on Saturday, but If I were you, I would definitely go back to A&E or Out of Hours GP doctor straight away, if you are having pain around the right side of the abdomen and associated with swelling because it might now have become worse.

Thanks for the advice, phoned up NHS direct and they said they would put me through to a nurse within the hour hopefully.

We will see what they say about it. :)

Yeah I've never had any problems with the liver or any family problems with the liver so thats a relief.

So you have seen by trained professionals, but want a diagnosis from strangers over the internet.

I also had some killer belly pains a couple of nights ago. For me, they were just excess amounts of fart, which I assume was brought on by a change in diet (my new fetish food, bowls of freshly unfrozen berries). Have you been eating anything different recently?
#9
there is nothing wrong with going to A+E again, its what it is there for. Did you have an ultrasound scan when you were in there?
#10
Lets hope the NHS dont fail you on this one. Hope you get sorted and all is ok soon.
#11
btw are you male or female? and does anything make it worse or better?

Well they did nothing to help me out, because it was friday night they were in an extreme rush to get everythin through so they could take care of all the drunkards and fighting. There were about 6 policemen all seeing seperate people.

Was hoping that someone had the same symptoms and would help me out, or a doctor or a health professional was on HUKD

No they didn't when I was there, again they were trying to cart everyone through as fast as possible.

Yeah, thanks a lot for the kind words :)

Male, and it hurts more if I move. if I try and get out of bed it is agonising pain as I would be using my stomach muscles to get up.

NHS Direct got back to me with a nurse who seems to think it may be appendicitis. In A&E when they did the blood test they noticed a higher white blood cell count than usual, why they didn't chase this up I have no idea. She has put it through to the out of hours service at my local GP and they said it could be numerous hours before the get back to me.

Bad times.:-(

Yes sounds like appendicitis. Go back to a+e and get some more blood tests. The raised White cell count is indicative of an infection, so the pieces are fitting together for appendicitis. Definatly go back there asap. btw your not in surrey are you, sounds like my a+e department you went to on friday night lol

Haha luckily not.

You are all getting rep for helping be out here :) when I'm back to full health. But for now it looks like I'm spending the next 3 hours getting ready for A&E.

If it is appendicitis you should think about packing a bag as you may be in for a stay at the NHS Hostel.
Should be ok once you are back there

i had simular pain 2 weeks ago early morning, just started all of a sudden. googled it and said either appendix or kidney stones. turned out to be kidney stones. spent 4 days in hospital. A+ e was awful , i was howling with pain and they just dumped me in a room. after a few complaints , they gave me co-codamal...didn't do anything for me. After several more complaints they gave me some morphine orally...15 minutes later i threw this up in the sink...then i got moaned at for throwing up in the sink...it was either that or the floor!. Then after a total of being 2 hours got up and walked into reception and said ' are you gonna wait till i pass out with pain before i get some help' luckily there was a doctor there now who said ' what nobody has seen you yet?'. she gave me an injection of morphine which was the greatest relief i have ever felt!. The ward was great however nurses there were brilliant. A+E = bag of sh*te.

Pos just a bout of gastoenteritis which will clear up in a few days - could be appendicitis - another possibility is adhesions but very unlikely - if it goes on go back to your A&E - hope you feel better soon x

Crickey - I've only just seen this post - I had a very similar problem .... There has been some good advice given so far, so there is no need for me to repeat what anybody else has said - although I would say that if/when you go down to A&E whoever takes you may want to make sure you have basic essentials with you, as if it IS the worse case scenario, they may well operate there and then, and you will be admitted.....

THE VERY BEST OF LUCK TO YOU SIR! I am sure everybody that has posted on here so far is thinking of you today, tomorrow and until we hear from you again.

Hope it ISN'T that though - I really do....

Ouch (holds belly in sympathy)... Good luck, and hope you are feeling better soon.....

Just glad he went back again. If he had just stuck with original diagnosis who knows what could have happened. He's in the right place now and all is being sorted. Hope he is well again soon.
