Me, I always repair these sorts of things using a standard 80mm case fan strapped and secured to the heatsink using string or garden wire and bluetak. It mightn't look especially professional, but the bluetak absorbs vibrations, the garden wire is aluminium wire wrapped in plastic so it can hold the fan on pretty tight, and for added quietness, I switch the yellow and black 12v pair in the molex for the red and black 5v pair, which cuts the fan's speed by around half, and does delightfult hings for noise output. Since it's a bigger fan than before, the airflow will be roughly comparable with how it used to be, too.

sounds a good idea but I dont have the height in my PC for a big case fan. It teaches me not to buy Dell in future :-D

******. I don't suppose you've an AMD CPU fan kicking around anywhere, have you? They're only about a centimeter tall, one of them might fit nicely. There's a photo of one here, for example's sake.

Being the nerd that I am, I did a mod job with one of them on my laptop last night. I took part of the base plastics off to expose the GPU heatsink, bluetak'd and leccy taped the fan into place, and hooked it up to a spare USB port for power. The effect? My 8600M GS now runs solidly at 720MHz core, 820MHz RAM, and 1800MHz shader clock. 20% on the GPU clock, about `5% on the RAM clock, and a 50% boost on the shader clock. I'm a happy little geek now.

7600GT is an nVidia model number.

The whole 'Point of View' range seem to be GeForce/nVidia;

No fans whatsoever. I used to be a bit nerdy like that but now stick to consoles as it cost me a fortune every year replacing my gfx card etc. Seems the PC gaming area is dying a slow death to me. A shame really as games are much cheaper. thanks for your help. rep added to all.

DX have some graphic card fans like this one

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14192

doesnt look like that would screw into my existing heatsink

this one looks like it may do the job (I only want it back in my pc for basic tasks and DVI connector rather than on-board gfx with VGA)

any thoughts?

not sure why they put DC in the title..............

Thanks for all your effort but dont think any of them would fit on top of my current heatsink (see how current fan is screwed to it).

Maybe try asking point of view for a replacement Fan, they might play nice and send one. Or keep the fan chassis (take out 3 screws) and try and take out existing fan [only] and see if another gfx fan will fit in chassis if that makes sense or is even possible if it comes out of chassis.

We were meaning you'll need to change the entire cooler including the heatsink with one of those we posted.

Good idea - I will ring them

Ooops!

Might give it a go as a last resort. Might just disconnect the fan completely as I wont be using it for games :?

This one mention posted by Crossbow can be fited to a 7600GS at least according to the third review down, are there different fittings on the GT?

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8948

And this one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10014 looks like it can be fitted to a 7600GT according to the second review

It seems the first one at least fits the 7600GT, if you click on the customer images you get the compatabilty list and it shows the 7600GT

Yes, would work, but just ensure the temps don't rise too much (with HWMonitor & GPU-Z), you've good airflow & even consider fitting a 80mm / 120mm case fan blowing air directly at it.

Don't know if you'd be interested in a BFG 7600GT OC 256Mb, which has been fitted with a quality Zalman VF900-Cu LED cooler. Can do it for £20 + 2.50 postage.
