In my Beemer, it's for an iPod to be plugged into.

It sounds like a OBD II socket to plug in diagnostics computer so garages can read the cars ecu

that's a 16 pin socket , sounds more like an aux socket.

Surely its for the ejector seat on the passenger's side?

So when you've had enough of your date you just insert the correct appliance and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hi

Its an Auxiliary connection. Need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, very common and cheap and connect it to anything with a headphone socket. MP3 player / most mobile phones etc etc.

Use the button on your steering wheel to change to Aux mode on your Vauxhall and away you go. Sound quality is great. Similar to CD quality assuming your audio files are good quality.
