Noooooo! Run away, it's highly risky.
Someone posted this 'too good to be true' deal yesterday and it was pulled.
The site has only existed for 5 mins.

Yeah, also if it was a company, by law they'd need to provide their details there as they are a UK business. I recommend you ring your card supplier, i.e visa and get them to cancel your card and ship you a new one ASAP.

also - that site has ripped dabs.com

I've looked into this beyond yesterday's investigations. In their 'about us' section they talk about some hugely successful parent company called PC PARTS LIMITED based in Blackpool. This 'hugely successful' parent company isn't even listed in the Yellow Pages!

look at the top 5 items, dabs 2.0GB etc...
why is everything out of stock?
www.dabs.com, layout look familiar?

i've emailed dabs

if i cancel my card will it still come through??

#7
steer clear:!:
#8
did you pay for it by paypal?
#9
nope, didnt pay via paypal

if you add something to your basket and goto the checkout it shows that the site is secure so i thought i might aswell

never saw the dabs site before this and its a blatant copy.

so if i cancel my card what will happen to the paypal funds withdrawal?

did you sort it?

Cancel your card, or phone your bank to warn them what has happened. It won't affect any money coming into your account, it will just stop anything going out.

The money from Paypal goes INTO your Bank Account. It has NOTHING to do with your Debit card.
If you cancel the Debit Card all you are doing is cancelling that card. A new card will be issued with a new number, your Bank account will continue to run as before.

Hello

We are experiencing difficulties verifying your order. Unfortunately your order has been flagged as a security risk. This often happens when goods are requested to be delivered to an address other than the billing address of the purchasing card. We are sorry to say that such common requests are actually typical of unlawful activity, and further verifications are essential before dispatching goods. For immediate dispatch of your order please provide us with the following documents for verification:
- Copy of Passport
- Copy of driving Licence
- Copy of 2 utility bills of the billing address.(eg. Bank statement and Landline Phone Bill)
Please email the requested scanned copies by replying to this message.
In order to successfully complete your order all the above documentations are required. Unfortunately these steps are now essential even if redirecting delivery to the billing address is requested.
I am sure we can count on your support in this matter as such measures help reduce the risk of fraud and increases security for all parties involved.
Upon reciept of the requested information,You will be contacted by us on the telephone number you provided during checkout. Your order will be confirmed and dispatched thereafter.

Thankyou for your cooperation.

Please leave your reference number along in the sunbject field when replying.

Thankyou
Stephanie

SCAM you.
DO NOT send anything and cancel that card.
They can do you a lot of damage with that information.
Please, if you don't believe me or are unsure, speak to your Banks Fraud Dept.

Sites disappeared now. You might want to ask them why they want all that information (*cough*ID Fraud*cough*) and suggest you'll be contacting trading standards to verify that you will have to provide that information before you send it.

:-D

See ID Fraudsters. See ID Fraudsters run. Run ID Fraudsters run.

Thank goodness for that - they wouldn't stop at sending you overdrawn - regardless of how much you have in your account!
#25

#26
Glad you have cancelled your card eventually! Definitely something well dodgy about this, I'm sure that a lot of people will have fallen for the scam and sent further information to them

Sorry, I hope you didn't think I was implying that you are stupid. That was NOT my intention. It's not just the money in your Bank that could be affected, it's your whole ID. Your Credit could have been affected for years.

As I live in Blackpool I may just go and have a 'looksee' at the address listed above, see what the score is and whether the address is genuine etc.
Without looking at my A-Z I think the address is an industrial estate, not sure though, but I am working in that postcode area tomorrow so will have a snoop!:)

I don't think it matters if you have an overdraft or not (depending on your age and type of account - see below), your account can still go overdrawn, and then the bank will levy charges for using an unauthorised overdraft.
Some accounts E.g. children's and those where the plastic is Solo and Electron, do not allow you to go overdrawn, as the bank are less likely to be able to get their moneyback - can't chase kids for money and those cards are usually given to people with little or no credit rating. If you have a 'normal' account and a good credit rating, chances are your bank would 'allow' you to go overdrawn and would quite happily hit you with the charges!

(of course you could then join the millions around the country, and apply to have all your charges refunded because they're unfair!!)

Glad to hear you've cancelled the card though!!!

If you go overdrawn with halifax [damned them] you get a week to pay a charge of £28.50 then it goes up £28.50 a day. This happened to me mam anyway [didnt get that far] and they destroyed the overdrawn fee because she was 2p overdrawn.

I work for HBOS in a bank account department. Excess overdraft kicks in at £25.00 in excess of overdaft (that would be £25.00 for people with no overdraft). That charge is £28.00 charged once (no matter how much or how many times in excess that month, but will charge again for a new month even if it is the same event) the month following for excess overdraft and penalty interest charged for the ammount in excess of the agreed overdraft charged at the end of that month. Additionally there is a charge for the 'paid item' (or items, as the case may be) that put you over the line, £30.00 for paid, £39.00 for failed items (like a direct debit that didn't get paid for while you were in excess of overdraft). These are spot charges for each incidence to a maximum of 3 per day. These charges are applied 1 week later.

Charges as a result of fraud are refundable. Charges as a result of you spending your money are not normally, but an agent will have authority to make 1 goodwill refund (and these are general guidlines here, but agents are stuck on the 1 charge point) IF you've been with us for at least 6 months and haven't had a charge refunded before. If you've had one before, then it depends on the kind of account you have. Managers have more authority but are under pressure to keep refunds to a minimum as thier managers get 75% of thier bonus from profit sharing from the department and charge refunds are seen as an expense for "goodwill". Best bet when dealing with multiple charges is making an appointment to visit a branch, and failing there filing a written complaint.

HBOS suck ........ sorry but they do. my gf has had soooooo many charges and almost all the time just being around £5 overdrawn so your £25 limit blah blah whatever is horse and trap. I keep telling her to do this thing to claim back her charges cos with a baby due we need the money. i reckon she had almost £300 in charges last year! And once she does this, we will dump HBOS and i will advise everyone i see to do the same.

sorry....rant over :)

well, there is a lesson there - don't go overdrawn by £5!

If you know that you're regularly going to go overdrawn, you should apply for an agreed overdraft.

As for requesting a refund of the charges - you do know you can apply for a refund for all charges for the last 6 years!

As for the charges, all banks will 'suck' that way, when it comes to them making money!

HBOS and all banks suck this way. The excess overdraft charge (£28 ) kicks in after £25 in excess. All other charges apply at any time you go in excess - even £0.01. Nominally this is to encourage you not to go overdrawn and to cover the costs of banking by those encurring extra costs. This may or may not be legal, as many websites will tell you it is not - the banks maintain otherwise (as you agreed to the terms of the account).
