Anyone play union rugby?

Had first game saturday in 11yrs since i left school. If i knock the ball forward with my hands leave it for the other team to take does the game flow or am i expected to play to the whistle and cause a foul by picking the ball up.

I dropped a throw basically and I ended up picking up the ball, getting tackled, going to ground while placing the ball to my side (think i did it quick enough). I wanted to leave it for other team to take so i could tackle them there and then. It ended up going to scrum 10m from the try line. Was so annoyed with myself.

A proper sport. Well done mate, non of this 'i waz injured but iz scored a hat trick' Lumoruk is a real man!!!

Atleast you learn't your lesson.

If you knock the ball forward then the other team get an advantage, meaning if they get the ball they can play on to see if they gain any advantage. If they don't retain the ball or no advantage is gained then play is brought back for a scrum for the knock on.

So the best thing you could have done in that situation is dive on the ball to stop the other team getting a turnover and advantage.

Hope that helps.

The more you play the more you'll get used to the rules and ways to get around the rules!

Okay thanks, so i did the right thing apart from dropping the ball in the first place.

Yep, you did the right thing.

Rugby is a great game and the social side of things makes it all the better.

Enjoy.

Yeah about that, they all started getting naked i made my excuses and ran lol not the right thing to do? We never showered at school all too embarrassed. Where do you look i'm not gay just seems a bit gay getting naked with a load of men. Wouldn't be bothered in front of 20 women. What worried me more was a couple of the blokes were a bit too keen if you get me?

Union is the real rugby, a mans game. None of that 'I've had the ball for five turns now its your go' carp. N holding them down on the ground for however many seconds before they get up whats that all about? Leaguers can't even handle a proper scrum.

How about this for next time:

Don't over think about it. Infact don't think about it at all. Imagine your suited and booted, it's 15,000ft and theres nothing between you and the ground. What are you gonna do?
a) Think so hard about whats going to happen that you end up wetting yourself
b) Go with it and jump.

So just do it. Be a winner and when it's finished go to a pub sit back, feel like a new man and have a great laugh.

it's liberating. Cast off those shackles of questions and uncertainty!!! :giggle:

Let it be a transition in life. From a young man to a real man (p.s. I don't know how old you are but a friend of mine saw boobs up close for the first time in his 27 years, So I suppose the man transition can happen at any age!!!)

the only good thing about kick&clap rugby is the way they pay league player retirement fund's
for example
jason robbinson- couldnt handle league any more so whent to kick&clap for a cash bonus
Henry paul- same again
andy faz- one of the best but toataly finished by the time he moved over

realy dont understand how anyone can watch kick & clap for more than five mins its to stop start for me .

Lol! Anyhoo, I don't know the difference. I just like to watch the men :whistling: (Nottingham team have brought out an UNCOVERED calander, I WANT one!!!)

I only go to the nottingham home games (as they are in need of money and I like to support the home team) and I watch the 6 nations. I am half Irish, half Italian = Getting quite (twice the amount) drunk!

Someone's edited their post after your quote ;-) The ball is in play as long as the man holding the ball is held up, if he goes down and doesn't let go of the ball it's a penalty.

If you mean the bit in bold lumoruk I added that in. When ever I have happen to catch sight of a league match,Guy gets tackled goes down, opposing side has a hand on their back holding them down and the guy is wriggling for a second or two to get them off. I assumed it was to slow the game down so the defending side can get back into position. Anyway it bugs the hell out of me. And no I don't know all the rules of league, can't be bothered with it. Most people are one code or the other. Very few are both.

Don't know much about league but that sounds like a foul, but then at training last night with a coach from Wasps we were practising throwing someone off us :? I got a miss matched player, and just rolled the 18 stone bloke off me. I'm 11 stone at the minute, though have been up to 12.

lols. Sounds like you almost got flattened

Found this finally to demonstrate what I mean. At 4min 18sec that is what I'm on about. Happens alot and it is one of those things that does my head in. A bit like union kicks into touch for a league fan :-D

Dont really understand why that's funny it's the main reason half of the fitness coaches on union team's are ex league player's .

Plus that's why when player's like scot quinel came to league it took him nearly 18 months to get fit enuff to play league.

And it's why andy farrel/jason robbinson/henry paul
Among other's whent to union as they couldnt handle the pace of league any more so they whent for the easy money & a less demanding game.
#32
No Robbo you wouldn't understand why it's funny.

I have had this discussion so many times with a friend of mine whom is Wigan through and through. I think union is a better game you think league is a better game. Neither of us is going to shift our position.

Why don't they tackle their legs 4 blokes holding up the player so he can carry on pushing forward. Only takes one to hold his legs together and he's down. Stupid idiots. There were better examples of players being held down in that video hellfire...why do they do it?

To hack me off! Finding better examples of it would of meant that I had to look and go through it for longer (yawn). As I said before I can only assume it is to give their own players time to get back into position. But the technique when bringing players down, yup cannot argue some v poor stuff there. You can find that on the union pitch at times to be fair.

feka's a diffrent beast to your avrage player he's 19&half stone prop that can run like the clapper's he's hard to stop go for his leg's and he whould trample you

tbh i quite like watching the super 13 rugby union as it's a bit quicker than the european stuff but i will never be converted

I went to watch Wigan play Hull at home once. I just couldn't get into the match in the same way as I do with union.
