Anyone use Power Plate machines?

I went to use one today for the 1st time for the 10 mins and my legs were burning by the end of it.

I am just wondering if people use them, and if you have been using them for a while whether it has made a difference to your body?

It says I can drop a dress size in 3 weeks if I use it for 30-40 mins a week. I would love to do that, but then again all my holiday clothes would be too big lol

I haven't (I'm the opposite and I need to gain weight, thats no fun either.. no matter what ppl say!)..

But Im always a bit sus when they say stuff like "drop a dress size in 3 weeks", lots of things seem to promise the world but it seems they rarely do when it comes down to it. I can't really comment though as Im not in the same position as you.

I just wondered if you've checked in any weight loss forums, or put "power plate machine, forum" in Google, theres a few discussions on them here and there.
I was just curious as to whether they build muscle.. hence checking the thread :)

Im sure someone else will be along soon (with something more helpful!) x

I love the power plate, very good for conditioning work but ensure you use a variation of exercises rather than just standing on it

Try this

I've used them, but typically for about 5 minutes and only use them now for about 30 seconds at a time, simply because I can't be bothered with them...

Can't see them dropping your dress size - I would imagine additional exercise, diet, sleeping etc is also required ;)

Thank you all, I also do 3 sessions of Zumba, 1 hour in the gym and eat according to Slimming World diet.

I don't need to really lose a dress size as im a 10, but to lose half a dress size would be fab.

KapA I will have a look at the link :)

Looked at the link, does the 30-60 thing mean level 30 or 60, or secs? lol Did you find when you were doing different positions that it doesnt feel like it is working the area you hoped for??

I tried for years to put on more weight, then my GP put me on cerazette (mini pill) and I've put on a stone in 6 months which is great. No matter what I ate I didn't put on weight, but now I have a bit more padding rather than being so skinny. Maybe look into it if you are getting frustrated/worried.

With regards to the OP, I have seen vouchers for the power plates on Groupon, they seemed popular. They came in a 10 session bundle, so I guess it's something you have to persevere with for a while. It does sound rather weird though, what was it like on them?

Was strange, My legs felt like they were burning and tight. When I sat down to do the abs one I felt like it would literally shake me off the thing!! Im off to Zumba in 3 hours so If I wake up aching then it must of done some good :p

Doing at least 5 weeks worth of 3 times a week. So hopefully I will see a difference in my body tone.

My friend is one who struggles to put on weight, she doesnt show any baby pump till at least 6 months, then leaves the hospital in her size 6 jeans!! obviously im very jealous :p lol

Have fun at Zumba, sounds like you're busy getting in shape for your holiday. You might enjoy pilates, it's very good for toning you up and strengthening your inner core, and apparently very enjoyable, around here it's around £10/class if you get a good teacher.

My mum was in labour with my brother (she was an expat in the middle east at the time) and they turned her away saying there was no way she was going to give birth and even questioned if she was really pregnant. Lol, he was a premature and little little baby but still makes me laugh.

What number would you class as high? As when the guy walked in and saw I had upped the machine to 25 out of 60. He just made a comment of Rome wasnt built in a day lol Made me wonder what the best number is to work at :S

Just got back from Zumba and my legs are seriously feeling it now.

SS I think my leisure center does Pilates and i would be able to go for free if they do as I have a pre-paid annual pass. Will look into it ta :)

I think they have high and low settings as well as the 25-60 range. High is 40+ for me

I measured myself before I started under my boobs, my waist and my hips.
I then measured myself 5 sessions later over the week and I have lost 2inches off each measurement!

I am pleased and shocked at the transformation. Have another 3 weeks of this trial to go. Just thought I would update :)

My last update as my 4 week trial is up.

I lost 4 inches off all 3 measurements, Under my boobs, Wasit and Hips. Also lost 2.5" off each thigh, 1 inch off my Calves, my Arms are so much more toned. It really did as it stated.

I was a bit sceptical about how it would work, as it claimed you would drop a dress size. But it worked as im off to buy a pair of size 8's today as my 10's are getting a little loose.
Just thought I would update if anyone ever searches for power plates, so they can see they work :)
