Got 3 red rings on my xbox.

I filled out the form online to send my xbox to microsoft to get it repaired.

Now ive got an email, printed off my UPS label. But im abit confused about booking the collection online through UPS. Do I send it international Express plus / standard or saver? Will i be charged for this, I thought it was free to send it off for repair.

They send you a box to pack it up in, or they come with a box when they pick it up. I think they sent a box to me but that was two years ago!

Just phone UPS and they will sort out the collection for you. They know what they are doing.

They should do. When I rang UPS to send my sons one back, the very first thing the lady said when I said I wanted to arrange a collection was "Is it an Xbox?" I asked her how she knew and she said UPS were collecting them 'in the thousands'. My friend, a journalist, ran a story on it in the tabloids last summer (with my son's photo) as Microsoft were covering up the scale of the 'Red ring of Death' problem by repairing them themselves instead of using a separate company in this country as they had been doing before. Credit to Microsoft they replaced the motherboard and a few other bits and we got it back pretty quickly, but I do object to them trying to cover up the extent of the problem.

I've just, last night, filled out the online form and this morning I've received the shipping labels etc. I also gone on to the UPS website and booked a collecting .. seemed quite straight forward. -- and much better than hanging on the end of a telephone line listening to rubbish music.

btw its standard delivery

I filled it out 4 days ago,
However didn't have a printer set up so I boxed it and they got UPS to come with the label. He slapped it on the box and it went off to Frankefurt ( GERMANY) it got there the NEXT DAY! which i was impressed with and it shipped back to me yesterday so waiting for it back now..

very quick turnaround though to say it went to frankefurt

Does anybody know if the newer xbox 360 is prone to this problem as my xbox is well out of date on repairing?

Maybe i should just ask on avforums though, but cheers anyway!

The receipt I had for mine was November 2006 ... It is, I hope, being fixed free of charge ...... use the online system and put the serial number in .. you might be lucky ... Good luck mate
