I have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo - comes on if I tip my head. Can't bend forward or roll about with the kids, unless I want to be very ill! Don't know what yours is about though.

Oh god what a nightmare. Mine is vertigo that is cause by migraines. Although I do not get horrible migraine pain I get vertigo instead. It is a very long story but I feel it started after I was assaulted by a patient in work

I get ocular migraines quite a lot but they aren't too bad compared to the head pain ones and go away after a while if I lie down in a dark room.
Migraines aren't very nice and come in so many types it's crazy, I hope yours stop & get better soon.
What happened with the patient at work, are you a nurse?

I get migraines as well, very infrequently now... but they're not associated with the vertigo. I have ways of coping with it, and it helps since I had a diagnosis - knowing what will bring it on, so I can expect it if I really want to get on the floor and play, and I can avoid it by taking the kids to ASDA to grab the stuff from the bottom shelf. Mine all came on after a nasty accident, but the docs have never agreed that was the cause!

What accident did you have?I think Docs dont want to comit because if you wanted to take legal action they would have to justify why they feel it caused your vertigo

I had a nasty car accident when I was pregnant in a foreign country. Lost the baby, so a bit of vertigo is a small price to pay... at least I'm still here!

What is it then?
Getting headaches when up a ladder?

Vertigo has nothing to do with heights.

Yep, and almost lost a leg! Do you work for the NHS - and it happened at work? How long ago was your attack? Have you spoken to a solicitor or occupational counsellor type? I'd be going crazy if they threatened me with job-loss after whatever happened...

I suffer from this (when it triggers itself)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labyrinthitis

When I have it it's possibly the worst thing you could ever imagine that could happen to your head, it's like the biggest hangover after eating 100 rotten eggs while spinning around at 100mph, it's hell. I got pushed onto a radiator while I was in school and I sliced my right ear in half and it was a pretty big hit, I'm pretty sure it triggered it (and it's my right ear that triggers it).

What's funny is that I had this for about 2 years after the accident, went to the hospital for a MRI scan etc, they found nothing and after many GP visits said they had no idea what it is and it's more than likely growing "pains". I found out last year (so about 7 years in total) what it was as someone made a forum post saying how they had a 30 day "session" of it and made a daily diary about it, no idea how they did because when I get it I am basically bed ridden until it goes away after I wake up normally.

I suffer from cluster headaches. I can walk and stuff when its on so i guess they aren't as bad as labyrinthitis and MAV, but it hurts like hell. They also last maybe an hour at a time so nothing compared to 30 days. Although if they lasted that long i'd probably kill myself.

Have you tried the Ibuprofen that is specifically for migraine?I found this helped alot although by the time it was time to take another 2 the pain would be back

Things like ibuprofen don't work that well. You get oxygen tanks and prescription meds which help.

No I meant the one specifically for Migraines. Things like Cocodamol make me even dizzier and vomit. I really did find this one amazing although apparently it can cause fertility problems if taken for a long time.

I get lots of migraines and also height or motion related vertigo, the motion part only comes into play if I'm upside down or at a funny angle - so rollercoasters are a no no

Do you mean imigran? That's the only one that works, but if you haven't got a prescription is really pricey.
