I have used the billybargain website to find and compare prices on DVDs/CDs/Games in the past. Today when I do a Google search on billybargain (I can never remember if it is .co.uk/.com/etc!) the top result appears to be the site, but when clicking on the link it gives me a "Malware Warning":

Hi erics (and everyone else who uses billybargain.co.uk)

My name is Brett and I run billybargain.co.uk and just noticed this thread in my server logs (so apologies for the delay in replying).

Admin is correct - there was malware on my site which google spotted and they informed stopbadware.org about it.

The badware/malware was installed on my web server using a vulnerability which my web hosting company have now secured.

stopbadware.org have confirmed that billybargain.co.uk is now completely clean of malware - they will check regularly to ensure that it doesn't reappear again as well.

Having checked the servers thoroughly we found the malware and removed it and as I said above we have also secured the servers from the same sort of attack in future.

From what I have been told by stopbadware.org the malware wouldn't have affected Mozilla firefox users at all and only affected Internet Explorer users who clicked on a download prompt they were given when entering billybargain.co.uk.

I apologise for any problems this may have caused but thankfully google picked it up quite quickly so we could remedy the problem and stop the hackers from doing the same in the future.

If anyone spots anything like this in future or would like to know anymore then please feel free to email me at [email protected]">[email protected]

Kind regards
Brett
