Went into there today and it was VERY clear and obvious that they have raised the price of all/most of their stock and are trying to look like they are offering a 10% discount off of everything.

Couple of examples:

Family Guy boxset - was £79.99 last week and today they have it at £99.99
No More Heroes on the Wii - was £14.99 and today it is £40!!

Just a little word of warning really. I dont want to see them go under but this is very devious and people need to be aware. I would have purchased quite a lot if they hadnt hiked everything back to its old price and even hiked prices up further.

I put my head in the door today to look at wii games, saw Red Steel and Samba de Amigo for £40, and walked straight back out again.

absolutey everything in there is over priced, you can get anything they sell cheaper elsewhere im sorry for the staff that have/may lose their jobs but its totally the companys fault

Some stores (presumably ones which were already unprofitable) had been preparing for closure before they went into administation.

As for the "sale", I agree with you all. I've been a few times but nothing's grabbed my eye...

Halo 3 was £50 in Nottingham last week!!!

People wonder why they go under, same with Woolworths, Woolies was selling Forest Gump on DVD for £25 the other day, then i went in to Tescos and got it for £3!!!

Not saying i agree with Tescos taking over the world, but it's just common sense!!

I agree.
I feel for my local town. We have just had a new shopping centre open up about a year ago...http://www.princesshay.com/ and now within the last two weeks we have had USC and Zavvi both go into administration and they occupy nice sites in the new development. We even had huge units unoccupied in our High Street before the economic downturn arrived. Its a shame.

Woolworths is the biggest store on our high street, is very strange now it's empty, hope something good goes there, thought maybe a zavvi when it first announced it was closing, obviously not now!!

Cant say id noticed the prices in Zavvi near me going up, there looked to be some decent dvd prices in their clearout and a few cd's such as Sharleen Spiteri's Melody at £4.49 which is better than the net can offer.

The store I did notice increase prices was Asda where a lot of the single chart CD's are now over £10 and im sure they wernt that the other day

Totally agree with you 100% there. Not hard to see why they are struggling with the prices they put on the items they sell, extortionate is what I'd call it. Again its going to be the staff that suffer because of the company's greed. :)

Same thing happened with Woolworths & all their entertainment stock.

The day they went into administration, all single dsic dvds were £9.90, a week or so later, they'd all gone up to at least 14 or 15 quid. I went in the other day, just before they closed & some of the prices were shockingly overpriced.

I can see why they do it though. If I was an administrator, I'd be wanting to get as much cash through the tills as I could.

Poundland, 99p stores, Home bargains - all rock! (Well they do in my world ). A shopping spree for me is not complete without visiting one of the above!! On the other hand I do have to agree they sell carp as well! If Poundland fills all the empty shops we will have no choice!!

B&M is another top shop

the prices havnt gone up as such they have just reverted to full price rather than sale or special offer

i have to admit tho they have sealed theyre own fate with their full retail prices especially when you can find most things at a discount online or at other stores cheaper
