Anyone with Sky broadband - any good?

Afternoon all.

We currently have O2 broadband - it's an old contract so we aren't subject to any limiting or whatever it is they are doing to the newer contracts - 8mb I think.
Am paying £9.50pm at the moment as I have a mobile contract with them, but it will go up to £15 or so next month as I am finishing with the mobile contract.

Sooooo, I had a Sky TV leaflet through the post begging me to come back LOL and it also said that I can pay £5pm for the 20mb broaband if we go back or it's free if we take the phone line rental with them also. Am gonna join them for TV anyways and am with the Post Office for house phone which we hardly use except for incoming calls so am wondering whether to just switch them all to Sky?

Just wondered if their service is any good? Is there a usage allowance? Anything else I need to know?

Thanks x

Have had it for about 4 years and it only goes down when they are doing my exchange, the thing is you can download as much as you like I used to download upto 1tb a month and they still don't say anything.

If you have any problems they sort it out.

Google samknows exchange checker, put in your postcode and check for Sky and LLU, if it is a sky enabled network then you will have unlimited d/l etc

By the way. I have my router from O2, will I have to wait for Sky to send me a router before I can use their internet and does that mean I will have no internet while I'm waiting? Thanks again x

Yes, you need a sky router to get onto their network, but phone your current provider and ask for a mac code, give this to sky and they will do the rest meaning that you can still use tinternet until the switchover

Well then hopefully you are the exception rather than the norm... :D

SKY BB is great, the first 10 days of line testing are a bit dodge, but after that, its great, I got them to put me on gaming profile too, so my pings are super low!

Only true unlimited download ISP too IMO!

I'd say go for it!

My friend had them he said he used to have problems whilst playing multiplayer games he's based in London.

You get free sky player on xbox live though but I think if you download torrents Sky track it and send you an email/letter straight away as it happened with my friend.

Not trying to be a fan boy or start a war BT have yet to contact me about the hundreds of torrents I have downloaded.

If your a 'legal' downloader it should be great

Gaming is fine, connection very stable for last year, before it would reboot it self on old router. Anyway when problems do occur the service is poor. Twice we had to replace router, each time took 3weeks to send out WTF!

Any Connection is great with gaming/downloading
Customer service is as total ****

I've downloaded so many torrents and from Usenet too and never had sky track any downloads so far...

I'm on sky unlimited and yes it truly is unlimited, I cant count how much I download a month but its a lot and the speed I get is very good, very happy customer for my broadband.
