AOL smell... Can't get rid!

Hey up all...

My cousin's been on AOSmell for a couple of years now - against my advice I will add. She's now listened to reason and realising why I told her to steer clear.

I've been looking at a few packages for her and as she has o2 mobile I've said that's probably her best option and told her to ask for a MAC from aol. Which she did... About 30+ times... And hasn't got one.

She's emailed, phoned and even written to them on paper like they used to do in the old days. Heheh!

I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble leaving aol or better stil if they have any tips to get rid of the [add 4 stars and 'ers] once and for all. She was just going to stop payment, but she needs net connection for her job and as they need to release the line for o2 or any other ISP then she'd be stuck.

Any info very much appreciated. And I mean that as she's doing my head in with 40 minute phone calls every afternoon and night! Heheh!

according to these guys

http://www.maccode.org.uk/how-to-request-mac-code/

they only have 5 days by law to provide you with the code once you request it. time to start making threats maybe ?

my brother had exactly the same problem with this a few years back.

(just to add when he asked me which ISP would be good for him, to exactly quote me I said "they are all good except for AOL" and the silly twunk got them and wondered why he had to use all their own software.)

Anywhooo...

His get out.... He got cable broadband from Virgin. Ok its a bit of a cop out getting those gits to give the code up and that phone line will be forever tainted with that code but your get very fast broadband without the hassle of getting that code.

I've been with AOL for years, they're great and you dont have to use any software they give, not sure where you got that from.

Report the MAC issue to Ofcom, Ofcom's rules state they have to provide it within certain number of days, if they havent Ofcom might do something (or refer to Otelo). And before anyone on here advises going to Otelo, dont. They wont do anything until 8 weeks have passed and you need to have written to this address:

Vice President of Member Services Office

Fair comment... Have you ever tried leaving them for another ISP though?!? :whistling:

AOL is free and it works.
Why would I want to leave?
