Hey all,

I've been told off a friend that if i have a a iPhone and i go into the apple store and tell them that it is broke they will replace it, as they have done it.

Are they telling the truth and if so what do i need in order to do this ?

Cheers James

What sorry, i don't understand ?

As long as it's broken.
They will try it before exchanging it.

I took my 10 month old 3G in as the volume button had fallen off and they looked at it, checked the moisture markers and then replaced it with a brand new one.

They wont replace it if its a broken screen or water damaged and it has to be under a year old.

You'll need the following...

iPhone (in Warranty, with some kind of manufacturing defect)

Happy to help.

refurb

if its in warranty and its not damaged due to water damage or suchlike they will give you a refurb(not boxed)...if the iphone is jailbroken then do a full restore as that will also void warranty
#10
If mine was a refurb, it was immaculate with all the same stickers on as my new one.

It's best if you book an appointment at your nearest Apple Store rather than just turning up, as they can be busy.
#11
you can check online if you iphone is under warranty, if it isn't then u can trade in your iphone + £143 and they will give u a brand new one
#12
Sounds good. thanks
#13
be aware they have a very fancy programme that they will use to check all of your iphones settings inc last full restore / temperature and its general health - battery life etc so its no good exagerating the issue

thay are not refurbs at all they are brand new just brown boxed i should no i have had 2gs replaced 3g replaced 3gs replaced all with the least amount of fuss from a genious bar

Incorrect!

When apple get a faulty phone, they bin the outsides and keep the insides, fix the problem, then put brand new externals back on and it then becomes a replacement.

However, the refurbs are fully tested and possibly better than brand spanking!!

Ive had about 7 replacements lol.

I am sorry but I would like to correct you there, just had mine replaced yesterday which was water damaged. And I had to fork out £139.00! (Not happy about it, but it was my mistake in the first place.)

Hope that helps.

Having the box shouldn't make a difference when taken to the Apple genius.
You can check the warranty online on the apple site.
If it is in warranty you will probably get a replacement, if it isn't in warranty then they will probably charge you to fix it - I don't know how much, sorry, maybe phone your local apple store?
