I have never been that sure about the Apple TVs. The interface is beautiful don't get me wrong, However they don't support 1080p and you are limited on file type support. Personally I do believe there are better alternatives out there.

I've been using it for years, absolutely love it.
You can't (AFAIK) j/b the newer model as well as the original one, in that I don't think you can get XBMC to run on it, which you DO want to do.

Agreed that it won't run 1080, but it will do 720p perfectly, which is good enough for me,

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the ATV, or stick em in this thread.

Thanks for your replies, I was basically wondering whether or not you could watch movies on it for free ?

Also do you have a 1st or 2nd gen because I've seen this ... http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=12861 and it looks good :)

Thanks again

That article only applies if you don't hack the ATV.
Once you do, it can play whatever the hell you want it to

Can you browse the internet on yours mate?

Never tried tbh. I'm sure I could, but it would be a hassle putting in the web address etc. Never seen the point in using things like this to go on the web when we all have pc's and laptops these days.

I was just thinking it would be good to plug into my tv in my room and use that to browse the internet rather than the laptop :)

How do you want movies on yours please mate, can a USB be USB on them?

Thanks

I wouldn't recommend - only do 720p streaming, and streaming is all you can do.

I'd wait till the Roku XD|S comes to the UK, whenever that would be.

I'm worried that my Internet may not be able to handle this :-/

Anyone know if I bought this from comet, would I be able to take it home test it and return it if it can not handle it?

Thanks

I stream the movies/tv from my pc, via the xbmc application. I don't store any files on the actual atv itself. Honestly can't recommend it enough in terms of performance, ease of use and fit for purpose.

I'm not sure why you mention your Internet not being upto scratch for it, you use the atv to stream already downloaded stuff.
