they call it an "application" all the way through the process, and yes,you can take it you didnt get the job,but its not something you should be worried about-just keep trying.

I guess you didn't do well at the interview and they will confirm this in writing next week.

It's only a guess, mind.

Exactly!!!!!!!

I put an advert in job centre (domestic cleaning) for 2 full time jobs and we got over 100 applicants. People out there are struggling to find work and I applaud people for trying to get themselves off the dole queue.

well done for getting thru the sift!! you can be over qualified, supermarkets are funny with that! i know alot of the big supermarkets take you thru a lot of stages until they make a decision!
Good luck on your job hunt!! :-)
Dont take it personally, so many people looking for work at the min and not many jobs about!

Tough break. I got through to the medical and fitness for the police (final stage before being offered job) only to get a letter about cuts and now the press saying thousands of officers are going to lose their jobs. This government is sending us into a double recession. I've already got a job so not a big problem though that might be cut too soon. Think the worst is yet to come for a lot of people.

Criteria for tesco -

You must be EXTREMELY flexible -
They prefer people who want to work part time
They like students
They do not like you being over qualified.
Similar to Mc Donalds jobs

They want to mould you into their own, then if you shine there may be a chance of progression. But if you have too much experience they usually are not interested.

OP - there is hope out there - my lad has finally landed a permanent (hopefully !) job after he was made redundant from his first permanent job when Woolworths went bust - he's just kept looking and applying and it's finally paid off for him - and I am so proud of him :) Something will turn up eventually for you :D

You won't get there for at least 5 years now.

Hi Pokemon1988, Sounds like a rough deal. Good on your for trying and don't loose hope.
I would recomend you have a look at this recruitment company they have some handy tips on preparing the interview and writing a cv.(I don't have any affiliation with the company but the company i work at use them for hiring staff)

Good Luck with the job search..

I've had more than one interview where there have been over 600 people applying. After getting through to the final interview stage (normally 4-6 people), the employer does not even have the decency to inform me that I did not get the job.

At least Tesco are above that level and show you some respect and consideration.

All the best in your search and let us know how it goes!
