Applying for provisional licence?

Want to get a driving licence - I know could do it online, and pay £50, but I probably don't have time for a test due to work.

Could I apply now for a provisional, and do the theory and practical much later (say next easter or summer) - or is there a limit on how far the gap is?

Thanks!

Your provisional is valid for 10 years, you can do your theory and practical whenever, but when you do your theory you must do your practical within 2 years otherwise you'll have to do it again.

Thanks, that's very informative. Hopefully I'd pass it in 10 years time. :D
