the size of your tank depends on what fish you want, you will also need power filter (internal or external), filter size depends on the amount of water in your tank needs to re-circulate the water at least 4 times per hour. a heater obviouslyand a blower to put oxygen into the water. .
water conditioners, and a bacteria mix to kick start your filter. dont add fish for atleast as week then start slowly adding a couple at a time.

cleaning is importants but easy 25% of the volume of water evry week make sure you make the water safe pure tap water can kill your fish, if you find alge growing on the glass you can either use a mag float cleaner or a clean sponge will generally do the trick

Believe you me - it will trn in to a labour of love!

I started off like this - and the claening, the water treatment, the filters, the wood, the gravel, the fish, the white spot, the ....... It isn't cheap, but they do look fantastic when they are up and running and the light is on.

They have come in in heaps and bounds lately to what things used to be like - the best advice is to find a local and reputable supplier of both the fish and the equipment, as it isn't really something that can necessarily be bought cheaply via the internet. Let's face it - you are going to be making qute a few visits there to get the fish, once the tank has setled in and the water is at the correct ph and so on.....

Choose your fish carefully, as they don' t ALL live in the 'get along gang'!!
