who you looking at?

I actually think i'm ruder in person. I certainly swear a lot more, though that's usually directed at the task at hand rather than directly at someone.
#3
**** Off!!!!!

It is easier to be insulting in writing that in person / over the phone!!!!

The Internet has breeded a lot of Keyboard Warriors that are happy to hide behind Avatars and Nick-names, but in person most of these people wouldn't say Boo to a goose!

Personally, when complaining, I find it easier to do it in writing than in person!

I'm exactly the same although I rarely swear in the real world.
#5
I'm the same online and in person, there's no point in being rude just because people don't know who you are.
#6
you should go look at fruitforums.com it makes me realise how civilized HUKD is... I have however been the recipient of several 'newbie' posters giving cheek on here of late. There's just no need for it!
#7
Totally agree they more courageous behind a keyboard than in person. More evident in the P2P situation with messages left and sent without thought of malice contained within.
[admin]#8
I'm just the same on here as in RL... but I know what you mean, some people are just rude for the sake of it.

What really ticks me off is when you find people picking bones out of perfectly good deals, when you know fine well they've never posted a deal in their life. They just spend their time sifting through and critisicing
#9
You're certainly more true to yourself online. Political correctness, fear of getting your **** handed to you for being right... None of these things come into it. A 13 year old can do better than a 23 year old online - Intelligence is king.

I try to be more "nice" in person so that I don't make things awkward. It's all well and good speaking how you feel online, you can turn off your computer if problems arise, but in the land of the real you can make things very troublesome by not hiding your true thoughts.
#10
right here goes -

I actually believe that it is the persons true nature coming through if they are rude. There are always different ways to put your point over which doesn't have to offend anyone, this shouldn't change just because your online.

I do think people become more assertive and to the point on the telephone (or letter), but for me, not online. .

I worry about posting on a thread, I am afraid people would be less than kind, so I am always careful what I write, if at all I bother. I was reading a thread last night and was astonished by a few narrow minded comments, these could have been jokes, it was late and perhaps it was me taking it too seriously. Either way I didnt post a reply and accept that it takes allsorts.

I have also wondered why when making a first deal (post) the OP sometimes puts - please be gentle this is my first post - do they get slammed?
people must be very wary out there.

Correct.

As I said, only your intelligence and personality exist online. The one place where you'll be true to yourself is on the net.

Insecurity... Who does it matter what people think of you online?
#12
Of course your right it shows an insecure person, I would love to be able to flick off comments by people that should not affect me, but this is not the case and whether online, strangers, friends it would still bother me, (stupid I know).

I think I need some assertive lessons!
#13
Yes they are.
#14
Don't you just love the keyboard warriors :-)
#15
Only ever seen "keyboard warrior" used on here. Wouldn't geek be a more insulting way of describing them? :p

I'm always amazed at how rude some posts can be - people add words in capitals (ie shout), tell others to mind thier own business and are generally insulting in their manner. Is this something that is exacerbated by the anonymity of the online forum or is it generally one's true nature coming to the fore? I like to think that I am much the same online as in person (Mrs Siculus says I post the same as I text / email her!) but I wonder about other people's ways of having an online presence. It's something that has occured to me while browsing threads on another (academic) forum and made me wonder what people are really like!

welcome to the internet

Hmmm, i swear quite alot in person, and i would say overall, i am more rude in person.

I stay nice online just so i dont get banned from sites i love (like this one lol)

That is really sad that you should feel that way. Be brave, what have you got to lose? It is only if you are offensive, abusive or personal that you need to worry and I don't think you would behave in that way. If you see something offensive, report it - that is what the red triangle is for.

Your opinion is as good as anyone else's. It's not about being wrong or knowing everything. You will learn a lot here. It's all about give and take.

I recommend people look around 4chan if they think "family" sites like HUKD have rude people.
#21
i have met lots of people via the net and in my experience i found that the loud obnoxious ones are puppys in person. They hide behind the pc and feel secure being the way they are.
This is the case in 90% of people ive met.Me however im totally the same, in fact id say im more of a* nutter* in person! so ive been told:giggle:

Are you saying that you're a "keyboard warrior" and you don't find it insulting? I doubt you would find geek insulting unless you are a geek. :giggle:

Im the same on here as in the real world, well actually maybe not as abrupt on here as i am in the real world, others call it me being abrupt, i call it saying what i need to in as fewer sentances as possible :w00t:
#29
In real life I am more abrubt and straight to the point as words are only half the conversation body language being the other half so in person you can be straight to the point as people don't take it as an insult whereas online you have to be more descriptive to compensate for the lack of body language.

Hope this makes sense if it doesnt you can just go and multiply with yourself!

I am the same other than I swear an extraordinary amount in public. I would here to as this is something that is true to my nature, unless I have the parent filter on, which is how I regard HUKD, me except with my parent filter applied.
#32
I reckon they are more rude - some of the offers in the For Sale Thread wouldn't be made face to face ... lol.

Same here. I think i'm a LOT tamer online than itrw. Basic reason is when typing I take time to consider my words, when speaking I just say exactly what i'm thinking sort of like a bad case of tourettes tbh:whistling:

yes thts very true and most live in forums, I would be interested to see how many of keyboard warriors or desperate housewives or chancers and blaggers are in real life, most spout rhetoric about this and that, but in real life.. I bet bottlers and cowards

Yes of course they are. Too many people hide behind the keyboard!!!!
