I would be tempted to wait and get one with 15'6 screen , the ones you say are ok but I've seen better imo like this one thats oos - http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-0828.aspx also has win7

Neither TBH.

This is much better. Better processor, more ram and windows 7. Here (this is just an example)

Personally I would go for the 508-1763, as this has Vista Home Premium (not Basic), 2Gb RAM and includes a built-in web cam.
Most laptops don't come with software on DVD's or CD's so you will need to buy some blank DVD's (needs around 2/3 DVD's). You can then make a complete software backup to the factory settings. This is important in case of future problems, re-installs etc. Don't worry the laptop will help you set these backup discs automatically.
Both will play DVD's and surf net without any problems.
You should also get the option from Toshiba to upgrade the software to Windows 7 Home, prices varies from company to company to cover admin and postage costs but normally in the range £10 to £30 but much cheaper than buying an upgrade later. Windows 7 makes some great improvements and also can increase the battery life when off the mains.

No Comet in NI :(
#17
They say delivery is free although might not apply to N.I.
There's a box to put your postcode in when you order which will probably tell you if there's a charge.
Don't forget the cashback & code to get price down to around £340

Yes I knew she was from NI. Many companies either have no shops or charge a fortune for shipping (like Ebuyer).

The one I mentioned still qualifies for free shipping. Differences to the Sammy one. Slightly slower processor (built on same core, with newer instruction set), smaller hard disk (upgrading is easy or you could buy an external one), but has a slightly larger screen.

The Acer one at tesco have a similar spec, I'm not so keen as a few friends have Acer laptops and they seem to be a little flimsy in the build department.
#19
im not keen on acer ones so dont plan to get one of them...so many choices but you guys are being a great help :)
#20
I too have changed my mind on Acer , they have better bang for buck but build quality is a big prob for them. At the mo I'm favouring Gavins recommendation , imo.
