A friend has told me that the old DVD regions don't hold for Blu-ray discs - is this really the case?

not true-many are region free(all warner films apparently) but many are not

Nope Some are region locked just the same as dvds,

Thankyou, the film list checker - thanks midlandscomics, shows my terminator as global, so should be OK.

I'm assuming that Bluray players have some sort of region code in them, to prevent area specific discs being played, where they shouldn't be. I haven't bought my player yet, I missed the £79 Sony deal a couple of weeks ago.
