I normally go to a different cinema but I saw a couple being removed from a screening, purely because they brought in there own snacks, which I was quite shocked about.

Security kept coming in every 15 mins to check, which was distracting me from the film but are cinemas actually allowed to do this, as I've never witnessed something like that before?

yes they can

i always bring my own stuff but ive nt been in like a year, the cinema is extortionate now its like 7 quid to get in the they expect you to pay a tenner for some popcorn and a drink, its shockin

I havn't been in years, but always used to bring my own.
#4
which cinema was it?? :?
#5
never been kicked out of the cinema, even with a variety meal from kfc.. hidden in the missus bag

Depends on the snack, if it was garlic bread or something that had a strong smell then I could understand it, but if it was crisps or something that they sell there, then I dont see how they could justify it (or prove that it wasnt purchased there)

There are huge signs in showcase nottingham about it now, think peeps should boycott if they start with the ejecting crap tho, they are lucky people even bother now, espesh with how quick the films come out on dvd and more people getting big tv's.
#8
i always take my own....£5 for a slush puppy!!

Depends on the cinema. UCI near me had a 'no hot food' policy to the point where they were borderline searching people for burgers and stuff (years ago now) but the Odean and Empire near me couldn't care less.

Yeah, we were in Cineworld, so it sounds like other branches have different policies.

It was honestly really annoying me that security kept coming around to see if people brought in snacks, it was very distracting.

I once saw a guy with a picnic in the cinema. He had it in a carrier bag and kept dipping into it every 20-30 mins. Made loads of noise too! But he didn't get turfed out.

It doesn't bother me personally, but if you seriously can't go 2 hours without eating there must be a problem.

I took 3 cousins to the cinema to watch terminator salvation....

We took in nandos! in tesco bags!

Nobody said a word!
(yep. nandos.. not nachos)

But its just what you do at the cinema lol, god knows why, but its not the same without some munchies  x

The Cineworld in Hengrove Bristol has a sign that says no food not bought on the premises, however they arent draconian about it! no security etc.

most cinemas are generally good. but as has been said, no Hot food which is fair enough really :)

haha - this is true. No problem with popcorn, just the 3 course dinner troops.

My younger Brother works in a large Empire cinema (previously Odeon) and has said they really couldn't care less, even with hot food. They just want you to buy the overpriced hotdogs and stale nachos with 'cheese?' (don't think cow juice has even touched that bright yellow goop).

wow not ceo'in

Personally, I think cinemas should allow you to take it in, as long as you don't leave a mess behind...I don't think it's legal for them to kick you out for bringing in your own snacks, that's out of order. :x
#37
ALWAYS take my own drinks n sweets or crisps etc in for the kids.
If we didn't use any codes/vouchers it would cost me and my OH over 50 quid to take all our kids to the cinema so there's no way i'm then gonna fork out another 20 quid for goodies i can buy elsewhere for under a fiver!
Total rip off!

Surely if you saw "security" coming in to check on what people were eating, you'd just put it back in your bag till they left?

Yeah but that would mean you'd have to keep looking over every 15 mins and that would distract you from the film.

The one i got to (Metro Centre, Gateshead) doesn't let you take HOT food in from elsewhere but anything else is fine.
