Ok, so i ordered an item from Amazon, decided to track it yesterday as it hadn't arrived yet, and guess what? To my surprise, delivery had been attempted! (no card obviously).

Thing is, delivery was apparently attempted at 10:54, it only left Wednesbury west mids at 07:08!!!

AA routeplanner gives best time as 4hrs 40mins.

So, are citylink lying, or did they ACTUALLY get from Wednesbury to Glasgow during rush hour in only 3hrs 46mins?

Any ideas anyone?

you need to look closer......

I'm actually pretty pee'd off about this, as I arrived to TWO cards this afternoon, obviously they were not here yesterday.

Should I complain to Amazon?

did a fuzzy calculation, 280 miles in 3hrs 46 minutes is 85 MPH.

So.... they're lying OR breaking the law!
#9
have you called citylink and told them they are talking out their a*se?

but i would contact amazon aswell, just at least to inform them of the situation.

Items I received from Amazon via CityLink have dubious timing too when tracked.

Left Milton Keynes 7.08am (why is it always 7.08??)
Delivered 8.12am

Absolutely impossible!

yeah, they're standing by their guns lol.

very impressive, staring an impossibility in the face, they are adamant that they did, in fact, make that journey!

Very odd.

lying scumbags more like!

its city-link of course its a lie

phone their head office & tell them you can prove the lie. tell them unless its with you today you will be contacting the police re: the theft of your items.

works for me everytime. last time i rec'd my delivery 23 minutes after i got off the phone, and the depot is over 20 miles away

citylink always lie! They are the worst currior company I have ever had to deal with!

I always worry when I use ebuyer cuz they use citylink too & I've had loads of problems with them all of which ebuyer have sorted out very well & when I've complained I've always pointed out that I'm more than happy with them but am complaining about thier currior company!

Grrrrrr - I dislike them almost as much as dixons group....

edit - my amazon stuff always comes via royal mail - didn't realise they used citylink too?

Did you not hear the green and yellow chinook flying past your house?

Me, I'd get on the phone to the branch ASAP, and speak to the manager. Give him the consignment number and set him two simple options - either A) Admit that his men have faked the logs, and put your stuff in a taxi towards your house that instant, or b) You'll turn over the logs to the police as evidence of potential dangerous driving, and file complaint with head office.

It's a five minute phonecall, so you've nothing to lose. Give it a try.

I received an amazon package via cityling, some 2 hours after leaving birmingham, impossible at 250 miles away. I think it's their timings that are out, nothing malicious on their part if i received mine so early..

citylink failed to deliver a time critical package (after paying 'express' shipping through the company I was purchasing goods from!)... it didn't arrive on the day it was supposed to... the driver claimed he 'couldn't find us' yet had delivered to us just the day before!!! I sent a photo of our 20 metre shop front (the only business premises on a single main road through a village.. with a 6 metre sign above!!!) to the depot in the end. I was so cross.

They dont deliver on a saturday, so my friday guaranteed delivery didn't come until the monday afternoon. Totally pointless!

I could have paid much less for royal mail special delivery and would have got in on time, but I though a courier would be more reliable. IMHO Up the posties! at least with royal mail you have a comeback on an undelivered item. Citylink would not even refund the delivery charges telling me to take it up with the company i was purchasing from.

Not really had a bunch of expensive flowers sent to my nan for her anniversary 2 miles from where it was sent special delivery by 9am

Took 2 weeks to arrive and turned up at 4pm dead and RM said there was nothing they can do.

do you think there may be an error in the log? I think "13 Aug 2008 07:30:00 AM WEDNESBURY WEST MIDLANDS GB Out for delivery" is an error, the log states it was in Glasgow on 12/8/2008, i doubt it was returned to Wednesbury when they have a branch at

I've just bought from Microwarehouse and they deliver by Citylink. I wasn't in today when they tried to deliver (I was out at work surprise, surprise!).

They've taken the item back to Coventry (I'm north of Leicester), so I rang and tried to arrange for them to redeliver but they only deliver Mon-Fri during the day and again surprise, surprise I'll be out at work. They won't deliver to another addresss so I asked if they could route it to one of their other depots which is a 5 min walk from my house, and from where I've collected before, but they wont :x I have to rearrange with M/warehouse for them to deliver through the nearer depot.

So I've emailed M/warehouse (they were closed when I got home) and told them to cancel the order, accept the item back or arrange for a courier that will deliver to their local depot!

We'll see what happens .............

that's one of the main problems with couriers... they only generally deliver 9-5, and when do most people work? 9-5. Really frustrating particularly when their depot is miles away and a fair walk from any bus or train route.

Think I'll just email amazon and tell them to shove it, cant't be arsed with this, if they told you which courier they'd be using before ordering, i wouldn't buy any items delivered by shittystink.

I used to temp for Cityyy Linkkkk a while back, the drivers can and often do falsify delivery log sheets. when they can't (or don't want to) do the delivery they fake the signature of the customer and report that there was no answer at the door and the branch managers know about it and they don't care.

the last time this happened to me the woman on the phone admitted that the parcel had never even been loaded onto the van. yet it was carded. city-link have to be very worst of a bad profession, my brother in law is a courier and the stuff he tells me is frightening

ha love this post, its obviously a lie, they could never do that journey in that time

I haven't read the post properly but yes City-link do lie a lot.

I used to send 200-300 products every week with City-link with my business and after dozens of complaints about packages arriving damaged, late deliveries and missing cards, I wanted to find out the cause.

I was really pally pally with a lot of the courier drivers and every person I spoke to informed me they're terrible, drivers don't care about their job because the conditions are disgraceful and they all want to leave.

I was also told a lot of drivers do put missed delivery cards through the door without ringing the doorbell because they want to try and save time and complete/attempt all there deliveries, otherwise they'll receive fines.
Also, some of them use dirty tactics on deliveries by not even getting out of the van by saying they left a card and as proof, they record the colour of the door but they do it without leaving the comfort of their van.

I could tell you a lot more but I get annoyed at how much trouble I had with trying to compensate my customers because City-Link kept letting me and my customers down and I've always believed it's important to try and get repeat custom..... so I had to keep them happy in all respects.

Amazon sent my parcel by Royal Mail.....it never arrived. Amazon arranged to resend but I said no as in the end I used my old sky router and saved myself £65! Get in touch with Amazon and explain times, dates etc and tell them you are cancelling the order because of the courier and see what happens then. Amazon may compensate you. If not then they are aware of Citylink issues and will cancel your order which you can then reorder!

yes an old post, but just happened to me, carded at 14:28, strange as my front doors 3meter from where im sitting now and was at that time!

Something needs to be done to bring this company down!

Joining your CityLink rant thread. But just as I'm writing he rings the bell and delivers my parcel. Strange that I looked on the web earlier and it said that they had tried to deliver but I wasn't in which of course was a lie. When I questioned him about it he said that he was supposed to deliver it by 12 and hadn't so he put the message up, admitting that it was a total lie. Strange methods indeed.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, said they tried to deliver, no Card Left, however, I was in at the time, the car was in the driveway! This was from the Bicester Depot on the 3rd Feb 2012. Today I went to check and noticed the parcel is out for delivery from Wednesbury in Birmingham. Are they joking with me or don't they know where Princes Risborough is?
