Are JJB in trouble?

With all the stories of shops in trouble is JJB another one that might be disappearing?

Looking at the number of sales they are having and having read that barclays (think that is the right bank) are reviewing their credit terms it doesnt look good for JJB.

The people I feel most sorry for are the staff of this company and others like Woolworths and Zavvi who face uncertain futures made worse becasue its christmas

JJB is still opening up new stores but they haven't paid their rents for a large number of them - and the bailiffs ended up having to be called in.

JJB is also restructuring it's Original Shoe Co and Qube business by merging them into one company ( That's why they have "Closing Down Sale" plastered across the windows)

doubt it they are the outlet for Rangers fc and also Everton fc ! maybe more

I think Wigan Athletic would go into trouble first rather than the business as the same person owns both

Yeah that was right Barclays relaxed the loan as JJB would have had to pay £15million by next Friday.

Buddies for eating 100%. Amazing food and nice atmosphere. We've got a few though so it depends on where you're staying.

Sixfields covers most of the entertainment but it's out of town walking wise, need to get a taxi or bus. Buddies/TGI Fridays/KFC/McDs/Hungry Horse/Pizza Hut/Ortega there as well as Cineworld and Tenpin Bowling.

Closest cinema to the town centre is Vue at Sol Central. The Wok Inn on Sheep Street comes highly recommended. Usual town centre style pap with McDonalds/Burger King/KFC if you don't want to spend much.

Any specfics, just ask

Personally I couldnt give a flying tuck about it, nor about any other store.

Yes, its always the workfoce that comes off the worst. But the fault of this lies squarely at the feet of the decision makers running the company.

I'm fed up hearing "poor workers, sad to see so many job losses".....what about "£50 for a football top that costs a couple of quid to make coz the company buys them from slave businesses overseas and sells them here in the UK for extortionate prices...who gets hit the worst there? yes the customers.....and who puts it on the shelf at that price? the Company.

Who gets hit with company's charging huge interest rates on their store cards that they push to give away..... yes, the customers......Who is it that is greedy to make money and fleece the customers? Yes, The Company.

And you know what really hacks me off the most, is that those same senior managers walk aways with a bucket load of money....while the workforce struggle to pay rent or a mortgage.

I think its times like this when companys do go kapoot, this is when the customer gets a good deal and a bargain. Yes, the workers may lose their jobs, but thats not the customers fault, thats the companys fault as far as I'm concerned.

Bring on the knock-down prices JJB....I'll happily spend to get a bargain :-D

they've been dead ever since sports direct(soccer)came to town . we used to have 2 jjb now theres one jjb and 2 sports world (within a few miles). in leeds centre there are 2 small jjb stores and a sports direct mega store within a few miles. the demise of jjb was long coming. btw mike ashley , owne of sports direct, has shares in jjb . .
